I am interested in mounting a scope on my 15 so I can test the accuracy at a distance by being able to have good target placement. I usually buy AR accessories from one guy because he is knowledgeable about ARs and his family business is gun customization. He has two mounts available. One of the mounts is a one piece(mount and rings machined out of the same piece)that screws into the handle hole. He also has a mount the I would have to buy scope rings for. He wants $35 for the one piece mount. My questions are...
1) Should I get a one piece mount or buy a mount that I would have to buy rings for too?
2) With regard to accuracy, is a one piece going to be better because there is less to come loose?
3) Is a $35.00 mount going to be more trouble than it's worth? Are there better quality mounts that will assure consistent remounting? If the mount is removed with the scope sighted in, and then I decide to put it back on later, will accuracy be affected?
4) Is it better to buy steel mounts or aluminum?
5) Should I seek out a different kind of mount?
Thanks

IMHO and E you will have more movement because of your head wobbling around high of the stock than you will have in the mount itself. The fixed carry handle model is a royal PITA to deal with when using a scope. I'd say any of the options are more than likely fine for temporary use. I think that a one piece mount, while sturdy for sure, could be a little pricey. I think you'd be better off going cheap on this.
