Took my Armalite 50 to the range last week for the first time in about a year. The trigger, which has always been heavy, was horrible. It has a very long and abrasive, jumpy creep. I dry fired it a number of times hoping it was dirt in the trigger, to no avail.
On the bench I find that the set screw on the rear of the trigger assembly is loose. This trigger is unusual to me as it is under load all the time and has no loose pre-travel in it's setup. I assume the load on the sear is pretty great because of the firing pin spring pressure required to fire those big primers.
My question is: Is there a setup procedure for this creep adjustment? I find there is little room between a slam-fire setting and ugly trigger pull setting.
This is a bad gun for a slam-fire!
