The only thing I can think of is be sure to run a patch through it before you fire your first round. Other than that have a great time and let us know how she shoots.
Good luck and God Speed

Some tend to jam badly. If yours does, try different ammo, maybe high velocity. You may have to work on the magazines if jamming continues to be a problem. I have a Charter Arms version and it's real picky but a lot of fun.

I have a Henry that runs well. Some of the Charter arms ones had magazine problems. (as mentioned above)

i had a few minutes at lunchbreak today so i tried to fire a few magazines through it.it came with 2 mags so i loaded the one that was in the gun, didn't feel right when loading mag, went to shoot, bang jam bang jam and so on. loaded same mag and again same results only this time on 4th round i got a pop and flash through partly closed action, somehow it blew all 3 spot welds apart on 1 side of the mag. ??? loaded spare mag from stock storage compartment and it shot fine.shot 2 more full mags through it with no problem, even rapid fire it was smooth. what a difference! both mags appeared to be in good condition at time of purchase. by the way, it is a charter arms

Bulk pack ammo (especially Remington) has wildly varying powder charges.

My Henry likes any brand of high velocity ammo.

At one time I looked into getting one. The idea seems neat. Maybe one day. But in my research, it seems to be that CCI stingers or mini-mags are the best for this gun. Some have worked and worked on it to get it to run on anything... but CCIs are the ticket for a new/unmodified one.

i was using remington thunderbolt (i have an abundance of them so i keep some in my van). after i repair the damaged mag i will try cci & federal to see if it works any better.

Mine refused to work, glad you got yours running.

If yours is a Henry call customer service. They will send you a prepaid shipping label, and fix whatever is wrong quickly.

Henry has the best customer service in the industry.

the best bullet for this rifle is something that is high speed, solid point, and copper washed. Remmy makes them but they are , well, remmy; the worst 22 ammo ever made.
Aguila makes them as well, and they are damn good, reliable, and hit hard.
Do not get hypervelocity bullets- these will tear that lil rifle apart...

I've got the pistol version (Charter)
Came with 3 mags, one works the other 2 not so much.
Kind of a fun little plinker even if it is uglier than a bucket of crushed butts.

I bought an AR7 Henry 2 years ago for 50 bucks at the local pawn shop. It was cheap because it wouldn't feed or extract. I checked the rifle, smiled, paid the money, and came home.

The previous owner had dry-fired the gun so much that the firing pin had raised a burr on the lip of the chamber. I chucked a fine grinding cone from my Dremel into a pin-vise and carefully polished out the burr. It's worked fine for well over 500 rounds now.

i got some shooting time on this gun & with both mags the gun is allergic to remingtons. shot fine on federal automatch

That's OK................................most guns are allergic to Remingtons. ;)

Hey! That's not very nice! Honest maybe, but not nice... ;)

My TC Classic likes the Federals and Remingtons, but chokes on the Winchesters and CCIs.
