Are air pistols generally single shot?

All we have pistol-wise over here nowadays is air pistols :(

So I know a bit about them. Anyway, no, some are multi shot, for example this Beretta 92fs.

They are very low powered though, I used to have a Walther CP99 made by that company, it looked nice but wasnt much use :(

do you need a licence to own them in london?

Seems strange they would allow them if they ban everything else.

Generally, yes, specially those intended for precision work.

Wow! I didn't know they made replicas that are not only aesthetically faithful to the original, but even functionally.

There are probably firearms enthusiasts in this board who dabble in airguns, such as myself (FWB 300S and Diana 45 rifles, no pistols) so you'll get some response.

If I may suggest, there are boards that specialize in air pistols and rifles so you may want to post this question there as well.

No you dont need any licence to own an air pistol under 6ftllbs or an air rifle under 12 ftllbs in power. You just have to be over 18 (I think :) )

You have to remember one of those Umerex copies makes about 2ftllb! The most powerful air pistol I found (within our laws) was a (single-shot) Crossman 2240.

It's funny they try to stop us shooting rifles, and in no time we're making some of the best Air Rifles in the world like Air Arms or Theoben, because thats all we can shoot without a licence.

Edit

In our country www.airgunbbs.com is the biggest forum for shooting, covering mainly air weapons it also has a nice section for shotguns etc, which is where you'll find me :)

If you go airsoft, you can get full auto. I have a great G26 with a metal slide and barrel and it has the "happy fun switch" on the left rear of the slide (think G18). The slide actually recoils and these things are so realistic that serious trainers use them for force on force drills. The thing even takes down the same as my real G26 and the slide stop is fully functional. Removable magazine and it's the exact same dimensions and weight as a real G26. Fits my G26 holsters perfectly, too. Not the most powerful things in the world, but they are air/gas operated and pretty accurate.
