First I know many don't like magwells on 1911's, but I do. I think they really add to the look of a 1911. Anyway on my Colt CE I have a Ed Brown Maxi-Well. I've been running it since February and I'm on my 3rd one. I've probably spent close to $20 just shipping the thing back to both Ed Brown and Midway USA to get a replacement one, but everyone of them does the same thing. The bottom piece always quickly starts to corrode, pit, stain, and rust, and I can't figure out why. I keep it oil, and I try to store good, but every time after about a week or two they start to go bad. If it is truly SS like it's suppose to be then it must be the cheapest, lowest grade SS Ed Brown can source up because any quality SS should not be doing this I don't care if I've got the saltiest sweating hands in the world which I don't think I do. Actually I do think I know why even though it poor reason and still shouldn't be doing it is because the MSH piece is machined where the bottom magwell piece is cast. I feel that if it was also machined it probably wouldn't be do this, but again if it was quality SS then it still shouldn't be do this.

It's really disappointing that such a high-end 1911 manufacture like Ed Brown would sell such junk like this. One of the reasons I bought this magwell is because of the quality that you are suppose to get when buying parts made by Ed Brown.

This is my current one:

Anyway this is obviously a problem that's not going to get fixed by throwing another one of the same pieces back on the gun so I'm thinking of buying another magwell. I really want to like the S&A magwell, but I just do not like the sharp point they come to at the bottom of the magwell. The arched S&A magwell is much better looking, but I don't really want a arched MSH on my gun.

Right know I'm thinking about buying a Fusion magwell for my gun, but it resembles the ED Brown piece so much that it just scares me that's it's going to do the same thing. Anyone have any experience with the Fusion magwell? Pictures would be helpful.

Thanks,

Jesse
