Hey, a friend has a like new Beretta 96D and I am don't know if all the 96's are double action only. He has box and 2 mags may talk him out of holster. Asking price $375 what do ya'll think. Thanks Mac

There is a 96FS and a stainless version. If that is not a police trade in then the price sounds pretty good.

Fair, not a total steal. See if you can shoot it first. DAO may not be to your liking.

$375 is high for a 96D, at least around here. I see them regularly between $250 and $275.

At $250 a DAO Beretta 96 wold be mine w/o any hesitation. Must be very beat police trade ins.

If the $250-275 is an in store price, not bad.

Must be very beat police trade ins.

Most if not all are trade ins. At the $250 end of the range you certainly get some wear, but I saw 4 in the same store last week at $269. I didn't look closely, but they all appeared to have minimal wear for what they were.

Nope, I went through a Beretta fetish a few years ago, and still have several 92's, but never cared for the D's, and I do not like .40 in any platform.

I'd stay away from a 96D unless it was way less than $300. The trigger is very long, and we (in my agency) had trouble with trigger return springs, firing pin safety springs, and an occasional cracked frame. It was said that when we turned them in that they were going to be manhole covers in Savannah. Having said all that - mine was very reliable, accurate, and still look good when I turned it in. It had 5k rounds through it. Service life is considered 10K. The grip is ok for medium to large hands. Did I say that the trigger pull was long.:D

Thanks everyone, I think I will pass on this even though it is a like new gun. If it had been da/sa I would have gotten it. I have a Para Ordnance 16-40 limited gun, and since I already load for .40 I thought I would add it to the mix. I appreciate everyone's input. It sure is nice to have this and other forums to get people's input from all over the country and world.
Ya'll have a blessed day, Mac

I had a 96 Centurion Police turn in. It shot well and had mostly holster wear. Insides were perfect. Around the North Georgia area they go for around $350.00 +/- in great shape. I have 2 96's, 1 is Bruniton and one Inox. The black gun has an LMS-1441 Lasermax guiderod laser in it and shoots extremely well. The Inox, I use for IDPA and have never had a FTF or FTE or any other glitch for that matter with either. Enjoy your weekend. Tomorrow is the visit to the class III dealer day with a friend.
