Um,
yeah.
A quick perusal of some foundry websites makes me think there are fewer than 100 commercially available aluminum alloys.
How many steel alloys?
How many polymer alloys?
Saying alloy when refering to aluminum is ambiguous as all heck, because the word alloy also refers to steel, polymers, brass, bronze, etc, etc.
It's like a dedicated rose gardener telling people that he grows flowering plants.
You mean like corn? broccoli? dogwoods? dandelions? marigolds, tulips? Artichokes?
"Well, there are hundreds of kinds of roses, so I just say flowering plants."
The total range of properties for aluminum alloys is very narrow, especially when compared to polymers.
It's kinda OT, so we can open another thread if you want.
