Maybe that's a very naiive question.
We all (?) know about the recent draconian, nightmarish changes to gun laws up there.

Despite losing their Czech VZ-858 (our 58) and about 1499 other various types of guns, can they still:

1) keep/use their beautiful Russian etc SKS, or even
2) a semi-auto .22LR rifle or any other semi-auto rifle?
Their magazines have been restricted to 5 rds. capacity for quite a while along with many other weird limitations.

I just skimmed over a crude summary of the wildly different laws which could soon exist between, or even inside a given province.

Many guns will be able to be kept - but Not Used - after insane registrations, securing provisions etc.

According to a few news articles I found, SKS is still legal in Canada. Which draws ire from antis because it was the firearm used in a shooting in British Columbia.

This article says they are banned, then not banned.

Straining my eyes at the actual regulation text, I didn't find SKS or their clones listed.

Looking through that same list I typed in a few common 22LR rifles like Marlin 60 and Ruger 10/22. No 22LR rifles are on that list that I can identify. So it looks like those are allowed for now.

Nice to see that such.22s, SKS and Garands can still be used.

Did that crap begin with your apparatchik "protectors" at the RCMP, Prime Minister Poof.... or Parliament?

All the above, resulting in a bill getting passed that recategorized many firearms as "prohibited", a class that used to only include fully automatic firearms and concealable handguns (short barrel).

Too bad NO ONE in the US can lawfully import an M-1 they might purchase in its designer's homeland---unless it is demilled.
That would be like "shipping coals to Newcastle." The U.S. is probably the easiest place in the world to get guns, especially U.S-manufactured guns.

When I visit customers north of the border, they always brag about all the cheap Chinese ammo for their cheap SKS rifles. Used to visit twice a year until Covid.
