I have a Gen 5 Glock 19 and am being offered a Glock 45 MOS in a trade for one of my Sigs. I was wondering if the slides are interchangeable. If yes it would allow me to mount a red dot sight on the 45 slide and use either frame. I tried calling Glock, but they're closed for the day and a quick internet search didn't give me a definative answer.

I would trade for the G45 and just use it as is. There is only a 1/4" difference in length between the two. The other difference is that the G45 uses the same 17 round mags as the G17. The G45 and the G19x are the exact same size as far as length and height, with the 19x being slightly thinner.

Doing a search and reading on glocktalk, the only issue that can arise is the difference between the Gun 4 and Gen 5 trigger bars.

You are aware he specifically asked about a Gen 5 19 and a 45 (which is Gen 5)? Not sure why you keep bringing up the Gen 4?

Is it? Why does Glock NOT list it as a Gen 5 on their own website then. From what I could find the G45 is just like the G43 and considered a Gen 4.

If I am wrong about this, I have no problem admitting to being wrong. I was going by the information that I could find online.

I think you may be thinking of the Glock 48. The Glock 45 is a full length grip with a Glock 19 slide. It's basically a black 19X with some minor changes (serrations, no lip, flared Magwell, no extractor cut, finish).

Thanks for the info. Glock's website does say the 45 has all the benefits of a Gen 5 model. I just got back from meeting the buyer of my P365XL and there happenend to be a gun shop in the area where we met, and they had the 45. It looks like a Gen 5 19 slide on a 17 frame. I'm meeting the person who wants to do this trade on Thursday at a local range. He wants to shoot my P320RX before buying it and I'll try the 45. I'll make the trade if he wants regardless of whether the slide is interchangable with the 19.

I was going by the information I could find when I googled "will a G45 slide fit a Gen 5 G19". Most of the links with actually info were on the glocktalk forum. Not saying that the info I found was 100% correct either.

Take the Glock G44 for example. I was told that a Gen 5 trigger and slide release would not work in the G44 when in fact they do. I am using a Gen 5 trigger and trigger bar along with an ambi slide release without issues.

OP,

Either way I would take the trade if you are interested in the G45

I stand corrected and apologize for any misinformation. I was going by what information I could find where people have swapped G45 and G19 slide and did have problems. I'll check the sources better next time.

I'll go back to scrounging a Gen 5 G19 frame for my custom G44 build now.

All this bickering and lil ol me though he was talking about a real man's 45acp..:p

The other person decided to sell the 45 so the trade isn't going to happen but one of my LGS' got in a bunch of Glocks, including what I really wanted, a Gen 5 17. To their credit they haven't increased their prices. It was $539, so I went ahead with it.

Nice price for a Glock these days, seems rare to see one for less than $600 these days.

They're smart. Just as I remember vendors who take advantage of these situations I remember and spend my money with vendors who don't. Another LGS wanted almost $800 for one, which I wasn't going to pay.
