So, I'm looking for a snubby, trying to determine what would be "best" for me. Ruger SP101, S&W 642, some Taurus variant, etc... Well, a really good looking gun caught my eye, the LadySmith model 60 (I think?). Nice looking grips, nice looking revolver, and looks small enough that I would actually carry it.

Any other guys carry the LadySmith?

How do you guys like the model 60? I think the difference is that they are all steel...is that correct?

Thanks!

Yeah. Just for women. If you pull it on a bad guy, he'll laugh at you for being a girly man with a .357mag pointed at him.... I'd carry it and not worry about what the words on the side say. If it really bugs you, you can always refinish.

I almost bought one in my search for the perfect carry piece. I like how they look too. I wound up buying a 642 instead. Don't let the LS bother you if you want it. I know several guys carrying LS pistols and revolvers.

Anyone laughs at you, tell 'em you loved your pistol so much you named it, "Lady Smith."

Most people are so dense, they'll think you're serious and leave it at that.

Gun folks won't laugh...just smile while they think, "Wish I was man enough to do that..."

Q

Actually, I think that they are one of the classiest, sexiest guns on the market! If anyone gives you any grief, just say it's so sexy it just HAS to be a Lady!

I had a 65 Lady Smith. Sold it because it was a safe queen which had nothing to do with it saying "Lady" on the side.

Lady Smith

My daily carry usually alternates between a S&W637 Airweight and a S&W 36LS. Sweet pistol and I got a very good price on it.

kerank..... I carry a "Lady Smith" every day. I used to ask the same question (guy carring a Lady Smith). I have a S&W 36 "Lady Smith". I call her "My girlfdriend" and I even named her "Darlene Smith". I have fun with calling it my "Girlfriend" and my wife rolls her eyes every time I am talking to someone about my "Girlfriend". My "Girlfriend" is everywhere I am, she goes every where with me, everyday. I carry her in a pocket holster, and I am tring to talk my wife into a new pocket holster for Christmas. I am about to trade a Glock 17 and get a Ruger SP101 a (big brother) for "Darlene" Ha-Ha. Have fun with it and enjoy. Good shootin' my friend.

Doesn't everyone give their defensive firearms female names?

I wouldn't worry about it, and that isn't just my opinion. Katie Kahr in my pocket agrees as well.

I think I read that the LadySmiths are strong enough for a man, but pH balanced for a woman. I might be getting them mixed up with something else, though. ;)

That Model 60 LS is very sleek; I could actually see myself getting one.

Tell people that you were making a tribute gun for the musical group Ladysmith Black Mumbazo and the gunsmith ran out of room while he was engraving. If they laugh at you, shoot 'em in the foot. kidding :D

Have one. Shoots nice. If anyone is on the receiving end, I don't think he'll chuckle because it's a "Lady"

Stop and think about this.Nobody other than you will know what it says on the side. With a few exceptions that is.The BG won't see it ,just the front of the muzzle, for a split second. Then it's off to the crime lab for testing. The Tech's will see it is a Lady Smith. Then to the courts for your trial. The Judge,Jury, lawyers and everyone else will see it's a Lady Smith.Depending on what these individuals determine you will be either sentenced or aquitted. But the end result of carrying a Lady Smith is that you will be there for your trial instead of being carried by six good friends and being mourned by many more.Do what you want.If I were faced with this question I know what I'd do.After all it's just a little gold script on a fine firearm.YMMV.tom.

The only difference with a Lady Smith - aside from the etching on the side that says it is a Lady Smith - is that the guns are usually sold new with thinner profile grips, to accommodate the likely smaller hands of a female gun owner. But since grips are interchangeable, there is really no difference at all.

your mom is a lady and your wife if you are married and you aren't ashmed of them are you? then you shouldn't be because of a gun that happens to be focused toward ladies. just my opinion,

I have an older S&W M60-3 (.38Spl), but I've fitted it with rosewood grips which are similar to the ones on the Lady Smiths, just because they fit my hand better. If you're manly enough to keep your ego from getting in the way, then by all means consider a Lady Smith.

I have two of them. Both are 3913 Lady Smith...one still NIB.

I like them.

In revolvers though, I THINK that the LS versions had a weaker trigger return spring. I dunno.

If you drive an Impala, it does not make you some sort of Gazelle.

salty.

I've handled a few ladysmiths and their actions were smoother and seemed a bit lighter than the man guns. Wouldn't suprise me if smith put a little extra into those guns to get more women involved in shooting.

Are Lady Smith's just for Ladies?

No!.....No such thing!

Legend has it, that Ladysmith makes one, flamboyant. But this is a good thing.
Yea……Just think…..going window shopping for that 3-piece suit,(you always wanted) let’s say, and you screech with excitement, jumping up and down, hands and arms waving in the air……like you just…. won that car on the “Price Is Right”.
Going to romantic movies, and having a good cry.
Buying shoes, desiring platform shoes, saying “disco was ahead of its time”.
