Are New Blackhawks still available w/o internal locks?

Hi,

So I was looking at purchasing bisley blackhawk. So I started searching the ruger site and their manuals referenced internal locks - in %$#@ single actions.

Do dealers still have blackhawks on the shelf w/o this 'feature'?

How long has this been on the Ruger?

It has been a long time since I've bought a Ruger - I have 3 mark 2's and an old style vaquero...I just wanted something with a longer barrel to experiment with handloads.

My blackhawk convertible was purchased brand new by my father in '91 and it doesn't have the internal lock. However, I haven't been following Ruger's single-actions and an internal lock is new to me. You can always call Ruger and ask if you can get one without the lock. I know S&W offer their M&P with or with the magazine safety, maybe Ruger will do the same thing?

The Ruger 'lock' is a redesigned hammer strut. It's under the grip and is a non issue. If your really concerned about it you could swap it out with early production parts.

I wasn't aware of this until I bought one a couple weeks ago. I knew nothing about it, until I found two goofy looking keys in the box. I referenced the owner's manual, and found out it was an internal lock.
As posted above, it is under the grips, so it won't be a problem. I'm sure mine will never get used.

You don't even have to see it. You'd have to drill a hole in the grips to use it.

Just forget it. Total non-issue.

1) it's completely hidden under the grip panels
2) all blued Single Sixes, New Vaqueros, BH's and SBH's have them. Stainless ones haven't had them but have just verrry recently started with them I'm told.
3) None are on the Bisleys
4) big deal either way
