Are rifles really more sexy than shotguns?

There are more posts on rifles because most people own more rifles than they do shotguns. I never thought of guns as being sexy, just women.

If you honestly believe that a rifle is sexier than a shotgun, you are truly smoking the crack pipe, and you got some of that good rock from One Eyed Lefty with the twitch in his good eye.

I'm a bit of an A5 junkie myself, but I appreciate a fine side by side as much as the next man.

Define "sexy".

This is a sexy rifle:

But this might be considered a sexy shotgun, too:

And if ya wanna go really phallic with the sexy shotgun thing:

Some of the prettiest guns you'll find are old doubles. Seems like they just took more time in the craftsmanship and eye-candy approach to making them.

Sometimes, ugly is better

Nobody likes to see a firearm pointed their way. But nothing says "They're gonna hafta identify your remains through DNA!" like a 12-gauge.

For me, reliability is sexy. Your wife might not look like Angelina Jolie, but you know she's going to be there all the way. The prettiest rifle in the world won't help you while it's in the back of your safe.

Got to agree with you there, Antibubba.

Beautiful women never would give me the time of day, anyway, so I always went for the "exotically mediocre" look.

And, just to be clear, when I named this thread using the word "sexy" - admittedly perhaps a poor word choice - I wasn't really referring to anything about '"sex" per se, but more wondering about the appeal of rifles v. shotguns. Again, I had just noticed that there were a lot more threads and posts about the former than the latter.

Still, there have been some interesting points made about both. I will soon own one of each, with shottie coming before rifle.

Oh, excuse me, I've got to go. Angelina Jolie is on the other line with a question about what shotgun she should use in her upcoming film. Of course, I'm going to recommend an 870P in a 12. :neener:

Biggest thrill I ever had, outside the house (or back seat:rolleyes: ) was getting 4 canada's that I crawled 1/4 mile ,uphill, in the mud,;) to sneek up on. Jumped them into the wind; 70-100 flushed in my brother's and my face. I deer hunt in western OK where the shots are normally in the 300-400 yard range and have made quite a few of the longish shots. range finder and ballistic scale in use. Now that #1 is a pretty rifle, but the 10ga O/U made in Italy is better lookin. Nothing has ever made me feel better than getting a canada goose to fall from the sky. That's sexy in my book.

Well, it all depends, THE rifle for me:

I'd prefer this over ANY shottie. Well, maybe a Jackhammer or HK CAWS

Sure, Superreverb, she's gorgeous...so why do you make her stand in the corner?

Stinging-cell Wingmaster: Naaw, be a real perv: get Angelina to try a 28.

And Antibubba:
...nothing says "They're gonna hafta identify your remains through DNA!" like a 12-gauge.
There's another one for the "Quotes" file, with your permission. :D

I hope y'all will forgive me if my last post was a little frivolous; I'm feeling somewhat giddy.

My CMP M1 (the Katharine Hepburn of rifles) was delivered an hour and a quarter ago. :D

I wanted one of those when I was a kid. It's still circled in one of my old Shooter's Bibles. I ended up getting a new Fox Model B 12ga. that beat the snot out of me. The foolishness of youth I suppose.

Not sure what opinion I have here:rolleyes:

I have a bunch of rifles---I'd say 3 to 4 rifles for every shotgun I own---but the single most expensive gun in the safe is a shotgun.

Happy Bob, no apology needed on my end. :)

Frivolity is great IMO; I certainly spread my share of it. At times, these seem like dark times, with a potential to get darker, and we often talk about such serious topics on this forum, so humor is necessary and desirable.

Congrats on the new baby! :D

For me...

A shotgun is pure utility. Here in the Great State of Florida (North Florida that is :D ) a 12 gauge shotgun will do anything that needs doing. I can't think of a single animal that resides in this area that is considered palatable (and some that aren't) that I haven't taken with a shotgun of some gauge. If it walks, crawls, flys, or swims, a shotgun will get it for you. One way or another. Goblins beware too.

All that said, I feel a greater attraction to my rifles. Cooper called the rifle "The Queen" and I agree with him on that point. There's just something about putting one projectile right on target at any range. Rifles are more challenging.

Sex and Guns don't belong in the same sentence if you ask me. Women are sexier than any gun. I am weird though.
