Are The New Ruger LCP Max Mags Compatible With The LCP 2?

Can the 10 Rd or 12 Rd mags from the LCP Max be used in the LCP 2? Thanks.

No. They're significantly wider, with almost a rifle-case profile when viewed from the rear.

I agree. More proprietary magazines is a big fail on Rugers part.

At least they made their PC rifles and Charger pistol compatible with Glock OEM Mags. That was a genius move by Ruger... who as we know doesn’t like sharing magazines for their gun designs much.

I don't see how Ruger could have made the LCP MAX using someone else's magazine. There is no other pistol like it, and no other ten-round (or 12-round) double-stack magazine on the market today that would fit a gun its size.

There is probably not much wrong with the company who designs and manufactures the gun to make their own magazines too.

It would be nice if they were priced like Glock mags though.

I really don't like the one gun one magazine thing with Ruger. If Taurus can furnish two magazines why not Ruger?

Sales strategy differences. Taurus (IMO) represents the lowest acceptable quality tier, and along with that they have to offer "more". They do have some very nice models lately and I own a couple. But Ruger doesn't have to offer two mags, at least not with initial offering. Two mags would make it a great deal for those wanting a 10+ LCP.

Plus SIG and Springfield are in a patent-infringement spat over the 365 and Hellcat magazines. SIG is claiming SA used their patented ideas, so Ruger could either design something different enough to call their own or pay royalties on each one sold until the patent expires.

Because, with the magazine, Ruger furnishes a gun that isn't a Taurus.

(I'm just kidding. Ruger and Taurus are the two most-represented brands in my safe, and my Taurus guns outnumber my Rugers. So, I can poke at the Taurus.)
