Is anyone else having issues with the base plates on their LCP Max 10 round mags? I was qualifying with my LCP Max and when doing a reload I dropped the empty mag. When it hit the floor the base plate came off of the mag. I put it back on and every time I dropped the mag the base plate came off when it hit the floor. I called Ruger and they sent me a new 10 round mag.

After getting the new mag, I was dropping it to the floor at home to make sure the base plate wouldn't come off. It didn't come off but developed a significant crack. The LCP Max mags aren't cheap in price but the polymer base plates seem very flimsy compared to Glock or Sig magazine base plates. Not sure what to do at this point with the 10 round mags. The only company that I found making aftermarket base plates is Hyve Technologies who make a +1 base plate but it costs $29.99, which is the price of the magazine.

Disappointing but I suppose one wouldn't necessarily expect to reuse a mag in a practical situation. Quite a training impediment but not necessarily a problem for the intended use... I have never dropped my regular LCP gen 1 magazines and am now curious.
