I realize this has been probably been beaten to (near death?)...?

But between the XD45 and the P220, is there any "reliability" differences?

I tend to favor the P220 from what I've researched minimaly...am I wrong?

I do not intend to start an XD/P220 war, just desire some input from some users...

Thanks in advance.

In my experience my XD40 is much more reliable than the P220 I had. The P220 is a good gun but little annoying things like feeding issues with some mags and the hold open only engaging part of the time led me to get rid of it.

I cannot speak to the sig, but I know the XD is an extremely reliable and trustworthy gun.. I would have no hesitation in staking my life on the safety features and reliability of the XD..

both are reliable guns my Sig has treated me well and is very accurate. My XD is a .45 Tactical and its good not as accurate but you get 13 rds. Both are very reliable never had a problem with either but the Sig I have had for 10yrs. the XD for 2 so thats a difference but all in all great shooters both one small note my Sig will not feed reliably with Blazer the XD takes all i've put into it.

Never a single failure with my 1995 220, save for a broken trigger return spring. No FT-anything.

Haven't heard anything bad about the XD45 either, just whichever you like best.

Sigs are extremely reliable, there are some issues with the extractors on the carry models, but the full sized models have few issues. XDs may be reliable, I'm not sure, don't have enough range time with one, or seen them enough in classes.

Thanks EveryOne!

That settles it! - I'll have to get both of them and *see* for myself...LOL :D

I'm very fortunate to have the ability and job security to be able to do this...

Thanks,
Mitch

I'm sure you will enjoy them both. I've had my P220 much longer than my XD45 but so far, the XD has been very impressive with no failures of any kind for the 250 or so rounds I've put through it.

While I personally like the P220 more than the XD, that has nothing to do with the XD's performance. It's ergonomics, accuracy and reliability are all excellent.

I've had my 2 XD's for only about 2 or 3 weeks (thats about 1,000 rounds each)...no problems whatsoever. I've had a P220 for so long I don't remember when I got it or how many rounds...no problems with it either.

The P220 is a better looking pistol...but based on that limited experience, I think the XD would fare better under harsh circumstances. I have no proof to back that up...just my observation from knowing them inside and out and they way they work.

I agree with possum...if an "out of the box" XD makes it through 500 rounds...it will run for 50,000.

Ive owned 5 xds. Still have two of them. My 45 is my daily carry. I have never ever had any type of failure with any of the guns..EVER. My wife carries a subcompact 9mm and i carry the compact .45

I own both and both are great pistols. My XD45 has been 100% reliable with all ammo I've bought or made. I've had the Sig a week (circa mid '90's production) and had no problems with my reloads. I've not put that many rounds through it, but given its reputation I have no reason to believe I will have any issues. If you have the cash get both you can never have too many 45's. :D
