Are there any stainless target 9mm's out there?

OK folks. Yes, I'm a dedicated revolver man. It's what I most enjoy, carry daily, and in general prefer. BUT. I have come to realize that a quality stainless 9mm pistol would definately be an asset in some situations. I'm really kind of out of touch with 9mm's on the market now though. Years ago, I owned and admired at different times a Browning p35, a Ruger P89DC, and a CZ stainless 75B. Full size is fine, as would be mid-size frame. Adjustable sights a must. Normal high cap magazine would be nice. Use would be the range of course, and during cold weather, maybe CCW. Stainless is a must. Polymer is not on my board as I didn't grow up with them and have never been comfortable with them. Suggest some models I should look into please? Thanks, Don
 
OH YEAH. The SIG P226 X-5 line is almost all stainless steel pistols. Factory tuned triggers, designed to be able to shoot two inch groups at 50 yards, German made and proofed from SIG Master Shop with original test target. Various models and trigger configurations are available. Street price however is around $1400 and up.

You already did. The CZ 75. Best bang for the buck.

The Sig 226 mentioned if you can pay the cost of admission.:eek:
 
Thank you both. I posted this question just before I had to trot out the door for a grocery store visit, and realize now that a lot of great info is in a thread entitled "high quality 9mm". Got a lot of reading to do. I wonder if the CZ is a cast or forged frame, and if it can be had with adjustable sights. Yeah, Sig would be nice but too pricey for me. Don
 
CZ 75b... accurate reliable good ergonomics easy to shoot well. I've had occasion to use the gunsmiths at CZUSA to work on a CZ82...excellent customer service.

I've given some thought to getting a 9mm on a 1911 frame, but my 75b is filling that niche so well......

You could get their cheaper Allaround model with a DA/SA trigger.

This one did 1.1" at 50 yards off a range bag rest, it will usually do 3" at that range off-hand. It has been tweaked a little for the upcoming Bianchi Cup...not me, Bruce Gray was test firing it for a customer

Man, I really don't want to invite a bunch of flaming here, but a number of the guys at my range shoot the handgun matches with EAAs. In my limited experience, you get a lot of gun for the money and they shoot really well. Hard to beat for $1K or so for the comp versions.
 
I don't know any SHOOTERS that can shoot 1.1" @ 50 yards (without a machine rest, and that isn't defining the shooter, is it?). It's nice to own a gun that can shoot that well, but if it is not something that can be realized in the real world, is it that big of a deal? I am amazed at how well some basically "stock" guns do. Here is my Beretta 92FS (it can be had in stainless, so it could be enhanced into your "stainless target gun"). Not saying all will shoot this well, but here is five shots @ 25 yards, with the 147 Remington flat point target bullet over Power Pistol. The trigger and reliability were gone over by Teddy Jacobson, and it wears Esmeralda's grips. Otherwise, barrel, frame/slide fit, etc, are all factory spec. 4 out of 5 could be covered with a quarter, and the other is probably just me; I was shooting two hands over a bench, no other support.

I have the Taurus PT 92 and carried a Beretta 92 for a few years. If I'm not mistaken Taurus makes a stainless steel version of their 92 with target sights. I'm not sure of the PT designation of it. It is the poor man Beretta and shots as accurate too.

As I stated in post #9, this wasn't shot from a machine rest.

Bruce had just tightened up the rear sight notch and took it out to test fire and check zero. He does this off a bench supported on a range bag...he still align the sights and press the trigger with his finger.

He isn't a bullseye shooter, but he is a GM in USPSA/ISPC and has shot in the World Championships. He says it will hold 3" when he practices offhand, at 50 yards, for the Cup Match. However he did bring up that Mike Dalton, another old USPSA shooter, had a target on his wall of a 50 yard group he shot off-hand that measured 1.3" for 5 rounds

Don't sell that gun! :D Maybe I'm just getting old, but defining the sights on a target at 50 yards is getting harder and harder, and accuracy GUARANTEES from Les Baer, etc, on their match grade guns demand a premium for similar accuracy, which most people will never be able to achieve. That is superb shooting and a superb gun. So good, in fact, that I'd really like to see it myself. Not that I don't believe it, but just once, I'd like to see someone do it, and check out a pistol that will do it, too, to see what I could do with it. Bagging a gun front and rear is ALMOST a machine rest, but still, any gun that CAN do it once, can probably do it again!

I like the cz75 pattern guns. The witness elite series are very nice. (limited and 2 tone match)

I just can't get into sigs. The hi-power is a nice gun once it's been worked over. (do they even make a stainless gun, or just a plated gun?) You might also look at a 9mm 1911. (sti trojan?)
 
Wow that guy can shoot! Wish I knew where to start to even get close to that.
 
Witness Limited. Mine is a 10mm, but it is available in 9x19 (and 9x21, .38 Super, .40 S&W and .45 ACP). In 9x19, they hold 18+1 (or, IIRC, 27+1 in a Hennings extended mag)

The only handgun I printed tighter groups with was my Desert Eagle .50, but that's kind of an unfair match-up, as the DE was equipped with a 1-1/2-4x scope, which mounts directly to the barrel.

Hey thank you all.I believe I shall look hard at the stainless CZ75B, with an eye toward adding target sights. It's a pistol I can afford, and although it may not have the appeal that Sigs do to some, seems to be an honorable gun with a pedigree. 9mm is so affordable to shoot. Thanks for posting the wonderful photos all. Don
