Are they making any more Scout Squads?

My dealer said they are focusing production on the full size models and the tacticool SOCOMs and that a Squad Scout maybe hard to come by in the foreseeable future.

Business. They may not sell many of the Scouts. Seems like most people fall into two groups, tactical or nostalgic. The Scout doesnt really fit into either. Oddly enough, its the one I want.

All the dealears I have talked to have said the same thing. Hven't seen any in a while, and when they do get them, they sell really quick.... like hours.

I also want the scout more than the socom.

Saw a Scout Squad at the last gunshow two weeks ago, with synthetic stock...sitting right next to a SOCOM 16. It was interesting to be able to hold and compare them both at the same time. Want to say price was in the vicinity of $1400?

Hm. So I take there are many people who are still looking for the Scout. Why not let SA know of your cries?

How many a year are they chruning out now?

Lead time for Scout Squad

Just ordered one from an SA dealer up here. Delivery time is 45-55 days, since no shop I've ever been to has one. The only ones they stock are full-size (haven't even seen any SOCOMs). Still, that's less time than the 6-8 weeks they quoted for delivering an Ultra-Compact 1911.

45 days? Sounds like they're made to order, then.

My theory is that sales of the SS languished when it was the only "short" m1a out there, most folks wondering what the point was. Along comes the 16" SOCOMs, and then there's no questioning why you might want a short m1a. The final step is that folks take a look at their choices, 16, 18, or 22, and decide that 18 is a better compromise length than a 16, which drives the current spike in SS demand. It also compares favorable, considering that the SOCOM II is a bunch of cash more expensive, and about 3 pounds heavier.

Well, that's my theory, anyway.

I always seem them at the different gun shows I attend here in Florida. It seems I see the full size model with a synthetic stock, the SOCOM and the scout. I never seem to see the model with the wooden stock. I always check them out as I intend to purchaes one someday. The scout model is the one I would go with.

Kenshin,
The scout would be an excellent choice for a rifle. I have a full length M1A but always wanted a scout.
