Are You Afflicted With SAD?....

Apparently I had it (SAD) yet was asymptomatic in that I've always been on the sniff for riot and trench guns yet backed into an older Citori yesterday. Didn't know I wanted one, didn't know I could want one and certainly didn't know I needed one... Wrong on all counts.

I recently reached stage 2. I could no longer think of excuses to buy shotguns that my wife would believe. So I bought her one; a very pretty 11-87 Premier in 20 ga. She tells everyone about the flowers on the receiver.

I was more than a little surprised that it worked, frankly.

Then there's that 870 Police at the local dispensary. So far I've only had one dream about it.

I love shotguns. I have an itch for yet another 20 guage break action single shot. I don't know why, I have one already, and it's one of my favorites.

I'd like a SxS and a semi-auto as well. I'm not a huge fan of O/U shotguns, but I wouldn't turn one down if the price was right or it was a gift. I wouldn't mind another pump gun as well, so I can have a decicated hunting shotgun and a dedicated HD shotgun.

Me likely my shotguns.

No, I have SID...Shotgun Inheritence Disorder.

It left me with multiple 1100's, 870's and a Browning or two.

I'm in a maintenance phase. I've owned many different guns over the years but today all my current needs are met by just 6 carefully selected shotguns. My goal was fewer but better guns and having done that buying something new would mean not shooting guns that I've put a lot of time and effort into acquiring and getting just right.

Recently I passed up a very, very good deal on a Perazzi MX2000 in mint condition because I already have an MX8 that is working well. Buying the second 12 gauge P-gun would have meant either it or the gun that I still love wouldn't be shot. If it's not being used I don't really want to have it.

There are still many guns that catch my eye but they are always considered in the context of the guns that I have already and am quite happy with. BTW, they aren't all high-end guns either. There's always room for an 870. :)

I did not realize there was a name for for me buying or trading 4 shotguns and a rifle in the last 2 months.

Morcey, I'm pretty much Old School here. I did hot rod that deluxe reverb up with 6l6s, a cooling fan, and one of Mr Lansing's best speakers for the time. It kicked majorly as a gig and bar amp. And it weighed less than an anvil, unlike a Twin Reverb.

Back to shotguns. I'd like to set up another WM, this one in 20 gauge with a 28" barrel and a straight grip stock with ultra thin forend. Nice wood.

A good make 20 gauge O/U with 32" barrels sounds good too.

So does a Fox Sterlingworth in 16 gauge with good fit and open chokes.

And a beater 11 for a truck gun.

And a.........

I've been on the hunt for an Colt Python 4" barreled beauty for quite some time. Not that Christmas is coming shortly, no bearing on anything. I was almost in convulsions 3 weeks ago, this LGS had the one I wanted, in the box, no paperwork, $900.00! I asked the counter guy if he'd take $100.00 down and hold it for me, "Can't do that sir, boss won't let me." "I'll bring you the rest in 2 days, please!" "Can't do it." By now my knickers are about to get soiled badly! I came home, called my buddy and asked if he'd loan me $500.00 for 2 days, I need this revolver bad, I'm about to purge my guts!!!!! "No, I'm going to Ariz. elk hunting in the morning with my son, I need all the cash I've got.............. I went back the next day in a cold sweat, Python was gone when I got there. End of story, I cant go on. :banghead:

Man, you must not like your power transformer! If the fan goes out, it'll look like this: :fire:

I just got back from successfully _not_ putting another Win 1300 on layaway. But if it's still there tomorrow...

Matt

Morcey, at the time I was living near LA and hanging out with some guys from JPL. They told me the fan was a necessity and I believed them.

Wouldn't do it again, only play in my living room.

Good luck with the 1300.....

@788Ham-
Don't feel so bad - I made a worse mistake. Height of the Obamascare January 2009 I was at a gunshow with about $2000 in cash trying to buy up cheap EBRs (yes, you could find lots of people selling AR15s at $700 - Anyway, I ran into a guy walking into the show with a pristine blued 4" Python and he wanted $700, probably would have taken less. I sooo stupidly passed. REALLY regret that...

Shotgun Acquisition Disorder strikes here in America every day.

It can look a little excessive to an outsider, though...

It's apparently become an epedemic communicable via cyberspace in this very forum so watch out. Seriously though, does the part that "it can look excessive to an outsider" make you feel uncomfortable at times if the company you happen to be entertaining feels as such (I know, don't have company over that is not already infected with SAD).

-Happy Holidays

I spoke to a member of this forum yesterday at the range, I admired the 20 gauge Model 23 (Extra set of barrels in 28,he tells me) and realized that while I've known him for the best part of a decade, I've not seen him with the same shotgun twice. All have been pretty, some have been pricey. And I've coveted every one, especially that 23.

My SID (Shotgun Inheritance Disorder) has manifested into SAD. My son's first shotgun followed me home. (Matched Pair in 22/410). I wanted something nicer, but this shouldered really well for him and was light enough that he can could hold it offhand unassisted. It also happened to be what HE wanted, so I had Santa procure one.

I've also been talking to Santa rumour has it a S686 is on it way down under from the North Pole for my son.

I'd like a double for steel shot and a classic English SXS .I'll get the first in the next year hopefully but the sxs will have to wait unless I win the lottery.
