There is a hard core of members on these forums who so freely give of their hard won experience and advice. I have benefited from this and would like to be able to contribute at least something myself.
As a result of my first really serious foray into BP and starting a collection, I have latched onto a really great guy who I am buying from.
He is a semi retired private collector and knows the difference between what people need in shooters or collectables. He is currently thinning out his collection (so I scored well) and is very reasonable with his asking prices. The back-up service is great.
While he personally specialises in 2nd and 3rd Gen Colts he travels a fair bit and has a lot of contacts so he can lay hands on accessories as well as weapons.
As an example of pricing and interest – I recently backed out of a GB auction on a cased set of Colt 1860 Cavalry Commemoratives that are top of my ‘want list’ at the moment. The reserve was $3,000 and the lady who owns them will not budge!
Bill (my contact) came back and said not to worry he can get me a mint set with all the bells and whistles for under $1,000. (Arcticap please take note – there will be one helluva big box coming your way soon – this is a VERY big set!).
So if any of you are after a particular gun or accessory then post or PM me, and I will pass it on.
Aye
