What's not to like?
Very satisfied with my pair, except both are former police models (and neither barrel S/Ns match). I may have to order up a couple of Argentine military-stamped
I got mine for $325 and it had a worn out chamber but great bore. I got a used Springfield Armory barrel for $40 and had the front sight replaced $25 to a wide profile compared to the skinny sight that was on it. I then took a jewelers file and squared up the rear sight notch. Sum total $390 for a great shooter. Oh the Mag I got was junk so I spent $8 for a GI mag and $39 for 3 Kimber 8 rounders
I like mine, but holy crap that front sight is skinny and very hard to see on a dark target. I've added some red paint to it, which hopefully will improve matters on my next range trip.
Paid $300 for mine in fall of '91. It was my first 1911 and I've used it as a base gun. I like mine quite a lot, though it no longer resembles the gun I bought after beavertail, new sights, etc. Replaced barrel a few months ago. It's a solid gun and a good shooter. You have to decide how it stacks up against, say, a Springfield Mil-Spec.
Buy it or I will sneak up and buy it out from under your nose
I like the Sistemas - the slide markings are very interesting and attractive, and they are solid, useful guns. A few people in CA are trying to charge big bucks for them.
Well guys , guess what? The Argie 1927 Systema Colt (so marked on right side of slide) turned out to say Hartford Conn on left side! I really was not an expert on these Colt 1927 system history, but am now!The gun ended up costing $440 after the gun store the owner transferred it to me and fees and taxes. But Im stoked! A colt manufactured in late 20's like this would cost me a fortune if it wasn't marked Argie! The down side is it has been arsenal refinished in Parkerize and the thumb safety and and Barrel have been replaced with Argie new parts. But I'm happy, it will remain stock except for springs and maybe a USGI barrel, I like the old fine sights! Now I have a Nice early style Colt 1911a1 represenative for my collection The serial number is 5765 and the slide, frame and mainspring match!
