I want to say thank you guys for taking the time to answer and measure. It is truly appreciated.
I have to many gun projects I’m prepping to head to the lake tomorrow to fish and maybe catch a deer cruising the shore line. When I get a moment I will take the rifle apart to photo the inside and do some measuring. If I do a new barrel I’m thinking a 6.5 creed or a 243 maybe a 6.5-06.

You may want to consider a 6.5x55, the 7.7s a pretty tapered round, and you may have issues with the straighter wall cases. The 6-284 I had refused to feed, so I modified a Savage centerfeed magazine to make it work right. I've read the .308 family can be iffy, which makes me think the even straighter 6.5CM might be worse.
Of course, your magazine system may have been modified when it was converted to 30-06, and it will do fine.

Good to know, the follower was missing when it was given to me. So im not sure how it will feed. I bought one but havent made up any dummy cartridges, to try it out. I like the swede, but Ive been selling off my brass and bullets, maybe I should keep some.
