Hi Desert CA.
Hello everyone, I have a little problem, I just got a rifle and it turns out to be an Arisaka type ??, I'm sure it has been re done (bubba), it says 308 win on it, The extractor will not pull out the shell after firing, Can anyone tell me what size extractor is needed for this .308 conversion ???? 6.5 or the 7.7, I have found both extractors on Numrich...Any Help or advice??

First thing I would suggest you do is to slug the bore and find out what caliber the barrel started out life as.

Bubba has been known to rechamber 6.5's to .30-06 and such.
Thats a Bubba Bad idea!

"...an Arisaka type ??..." Hi. Start here. http://members.shaw.ca/nambuworld/arisakas.htm
"...extractor will not..." Extraction issues is likely caused by excessively bad headspace. The 7.7's case is 269 thou longer than a .308. If Bubba didn't change the barrel, you have a dangerous rifle.
Like RC says, slug the barrel. Hammer a cast .30 calibre bullet or suitably sized lead fishing sinker through the barrel with a 1/4" brass or Al rod and a plastic mallet, then measure the bullet/sinker with a micrometer. Both the 6.5 and 7.7 Jap are the wrong diameter barrel for a .308 though. 6.5's obviously too small and the 7.7 is too big.

Unless something is wrong, the Arisaka extractor should work just fine with .308 Winchester.
