AzCDL email of today:

A list of firearms related bills we are monitoring this session can be found on AzCDL's Bill Tracking page. Both houses of the state legislature have to approve every bill that goes to the governor, so the Senate is busy considering bills that originated in the House and the House is working on Senate bills. At least, that's how it is supposed to work. What's happening right now, though, is that each chamber is sitting on the other's bills as leverage while they work out a budget measure.

These pro-rights bills passed out of the Senate Judiciary Committee. We are waiting for them to be scheduled for a Senate Committee of the Whole (COW) debate:

HB 2551 would exempt CCW permit holders from the prohibition on entering state and local government-controlled property while armed unless the property or event screens for weapons and is equipped with accessible storage for personal firearms.

HB 2810 is a civil asset forfeiture reform bill. It would require a criminal conviction in order for the government to confiscate someone's property.

HB 2840 would remove the requirement that a firearm be unloaded when secured in a vehicle on school grounds.

The following pro-rights bill passed out of the House Judiciary Committee on March 24th. We are waiting for it to be scheduled for a House COW debate:

SB 1382 would classify ammunition and firearms-related businesses as “essential” during a state of emergency.

We encourage you to share this and all AzCDL emails with anyone you know who is interested in protecting their right to keep and bear arms in Arizona. They can click here to subscribe to AzCDL email broadcasts.
