I realise that it is now the time of year for going out into the woods rather than sitting in the classroom, but I only recently moved here and am interested in getting into hunting.

Obviously one of the first steps is to take a hunter education class. No classes are currently showing on the Game and Fish Commission website, so I was wondering when in the new year classes are likely to start again, or whether anyone knows of classes that can be arranged that are not featured on their website.

If you have a hunters education from another state, they may accept that in its place. But most classes start after and before the big hunting seasons in your state. For example deer is big in WI, so there are two classes in the months leading up to it.

Your DNR (or whatever it is called) should list all classes. Most states the instructors must go through the state wildlife people to get the certification to teach it. Therefore the state knows when those people are offering classes, give the state people a call.
