This comes courtesy of Jeff Cantwell, Arkansas Rifle and Pistol Assn:

* = HB1185 - concerns confiscated property, and selling it. [I've
read it once, and nothing jumped out at me, but I'll read it again.]

* - HB1314 - requires background checks at gunshows. From Jim
Lendall. Sounds DOA already, but we'll certainly check into it. [A
Representative dropped us an e-mail to let us know about it. That was
very nice, especially considering how busy these guys are. And I can
assure you of one thing, it was due to the efforts of this group to
garner the respect you deserve. Thanks to your efforts, we're gaining
respect and recognition.]

* - HB76 - Allows Judges to carry anywhere they like WITH OUT a
permit. (You know, judges are SPECIAL folk.)

* + SB69 - Allows active duty military to renew their carry permits
without the shooting requirement. (May be hard to find an Arkansas
certified instructor in Afghanistan. Hmmmm...wonder if we can arrange
reciprical agreements with Iraq?)

* - SB155 - Allows current and former police officers to carry
everyplace a regular citizen can't. (If you're an ex-cop, aren't you a
regular citizen again? You know, cops are SPECIAL folk.)

* OUR BILL TO BE FILED...TOMORROW?! It hasn't been filed bacause
we're still picking up co-sponsors. 6 today I'm told.

Good luck to us. I'm hoping this session will be the best ever.
Also:
HB1326 -- Prevents liability suits against firearm and ammunition
manufacturers and dealers.
and
Sponsor: Lendall -- AN ACT TO DIRECT THE DEPARTMENT OF ARKANSAS STATE POLICE
TO ESTABLISH A BALLISTICS IDENTIFIER PROGRAM AND DATABASE; TO REQUIRE
HANDGUNS AND RIFLES TO BE CERTIFIED PRIOR TO SALE
Whoever that Lendall person is, they need to go back home where they belong.

Any of y'all arkies, I recommend subscribing to http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ArkansasShooters/. You can read messages on the website, or have them emailed to you.

Monte,
Thanks for the update, I will watch from the Ozark hilltops.
I wonder if you can help me. My oldest son is moving to Oregon and taking my grandkids with him! Houston was far enough, but Oregon?
Anyhow, we will be doing a lot of traveling in unfamiliar territory and I need to know the current status of concealed carry reciprocity agreements with Arkansas and a summary of what is legal in various states. I know about the federal overiding law, but a lockbox in the cargo space of the SUV helps little. Do you know of a website with such information?
If we can figure out the Oregon permit drawing system there are elk, bear, mule deer and antelope to be hunted. It is a pay to play situation, but that is what it is coming to everywhere.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Monte,
Thanks. At your suggestion I joined up with Arkansas Shooters and noticed references to the packing site.
Yes, they have good info. Also noted that Dick Overman responded to other questions about carrying and found a link at his site with a list.
Keep up the good work.
