I grew up near EIB0879 in Warren. My career took me to KS, LA and a 24 year stint in Dallas. Last year we moved to a 40K acre lake in W AR. I should have done it 10 years ago.

North Dallas in extremely high maintenance and high drama. What you gain from no state income tax is far eclipsed by outrageous property taxes, outrageous toll roads——more than outrageous and extremely high prices for everything else.

The main benefit in rural AR is that the locals are real people not backstabbing fakes. Every aspect of life in North Dallas has been high dramatized by the outsiders who have migrated to the area. North Dallas is no longer TX. The officials that are over Frisco Schools and city government had this PC notion that a town of over 150K should have no schools over 5A so everyone would get a trophy. The result was the high schools with no polticial influence as in the High Schools that the Administrators kids didn’t go to were divided up every three years or less. We went from 3 highschools to 7 or 8. There was a plan to have 10. Property taxes were sharply increased every year until we told them no. Then the School Board through a hissy fit and started charging parents $200 for every activity or sport kids did. The last I checked, a hiring and spending freeze was in place.

There are still some good places in America to settle. You just have to find them.

Bluefeather- funny that you mention Frisco. I have lived in Frisco the last 20 years.I remember when the population was in the low 20's and now it is over 170K.

My youngest is a Senior in HS. I understand what you are saying about FISD and the city "leaders". My plan is to move out of here when I retire. My wife and I are still trying to decide but we have a few years to decide.

Hey there are some good people in Frisco and our time there was good in a lot of respects. IMHO Centennial got jacked around in the whole process being spilt up three or four times. We lived on both sides of town so I am trying to be open minded about it. Looking back now and in my IMHO, a kid should not have to go through that even once. We put our youngest in school in Mt. Ida. He played his last year of FB and they went to state. It’s been a wonderful experience. He’s headed to Ole Miss this fall. He’s working on the maintenance crew for the Lake Resort we live in. He would never gotten that chance in Frisco since all those jobs are taken by illegals. He’s learning what you and got to learn as kids——carpentry, medium to heavy equipment, mowing/bush hogging, pavement repair, dock maintenance, etc.

The people here are good country folks——hard working and loyal. They took us in like we were family from day one. The whole town shuts down on Fridays for football and one of the 7 independent eateries feeds the FB team. The whole town supports the football team. It’s special. I’m looking forward to FB season and I don’t have a kid on the team.
