LE MARS, Iowa -- Five Sioux City men were arrested in Plymouth County on Sunday after police say they robbed the homeowners of a residence northeast of Le Mars at knifepoint.
At 9:43 p.m., the Plymouth County Sheriff's Office received a report of an armed robbery in the 1600 block of Marble Ave.
Sheriff Mike Van Otterloo said Monday that the suspects entered the residence with a knife in hand and threatened the residents. Van Otterloo said no one was injured, but he said he would not comment on whether the suspects took anything from the home.
While en route to the residence, deputies noticed a vehicle traveling northbound from the area. The vehicle traveled north of Marble Avenue to 160th Street at which point the vehicle became stuck in the ditch. Three of the five subjects in the vehicle then fled on foot into an open field.
Ivan Flores, 19, and Armando Valentin, 21, were immediately taken into custody without incident, and the three subjects who fled were apprehended two hours later.
Flores and Valentin were both charged with first-degree burglary, a class B felony; and trespassing, a simple misdemeanor.
Michael Dale Carson, 22, of Sioux City, was charged with first-degree burglary; possession of a controlled substance, an aggravated misdemeanor; and trespassing, a simple misdemeanor. Ricardo Ortiz, 19, of Sioux City, was charged with first-degree burglary and trespassing. David Zamora, 16, of Sioux City, was charged with first-degree burglary and trespassing. He was transported to the Youth Emergency Services Center in Cherokee, Iowa.
All of the adults are being held at the Plymouth County Jail in lieu of $25,000 bond, according to the sheriff's office.
