Friday I left the office a little early and hit a couple of gun stores. Being the good uncle of 4, soon to be 5, nephews that I am, I found a Winchester 67A, Junior Rifle, in pristine condition. Dealer wanted $225, I pled it down to $150 (and 40 hours community service, no, just kidding!).

After exercising and doing my chores (laundry, paying bills for the month *ugh*), I checked the library at the Alcazar for info on the Winchester 67A. Duncan Barnes book lists the 67 as being produced between '34 and '63 with about 330,000 made, with time off during WWII but gives nothing about the 67A.

I checked the rifle § and found aspen's thread, but was wondering if anyone knew when (years, number made) the 67A was produced? I want to know just so I can relate to the nephews whenever my brother lets me give the weapon to them.

TIA,

Tio Tejon

Nice little gun, I've been wanting to get one of the junior sizes for the pair of little guys I have running around here. Unfortunately the only 67s I can find around here are the full size ones! How do they compare size wise to the Crickett rifles?

anapex, cool, how old? My oldest nephew, Noah, turns 7 in June and Matt may let me give it to him. Can hardly wait. :D

I sold many Crickets back during undergrad and I can say that this Winchester is much heavier and feels bulkier. This is O.K. as Noah is extremely strong for his age and weight (all the boys are tall and skinny, were off the scale on that "Apgar" test at birth and very active as they live in the country). Matt put a chin up bar in the kitchen and the boys take turns hanging (working on pull ups) for fun before dinner.

As well, Matt wants to have him shoot off a bench and sandbag for a while to concentrate on sights and trigger and not worry about struggle with the weapon. A wise decision I believe, but I'm just the uncle.

I'm so excited. I can hardly wait for his birthday.
