On Larry Elder's program on KABC-AM (790) in Los Angeles, Schwarzenegger said he supported several gun control measures, including background checks, trigger locks, a ban on assault rifles, and efforts to restrict the sale of guns at gun shows. But he added pointedly that he believed the 2nd Amendment to the Constitution guarantees individuals the right to bear arms.

It sounds to me like Arnold can be worked with. I have a feeling he's making a lot of decisions based upon poor info. If he does actually believe in the 2nd, a little bit of factual information could swing him (the gun show LOOPHOLE?!?! What anti-gun bigot BS!).

He's just saying he supports the 2nd so he doesn't anger too many NRA types.
He's hoping that most of the NRA Repubs will "look the other way" about his support of the AWB stuff.
He's trying to walk the line, just like George W.

He doesn't care about RKBA as long as HE can have HIS toys. He's an elitist POS just like most of the Hollywood creeps.

I heard on one of the little news breaks at the top and bottom of every hour on this radio station that Arnie supports an "assault weapons" ban.

Arnies gun control

Arnie just lost my support! I don't live in California but I did think that Arnold would have more of a TRUE Republican view point on many things! He doesn't! For some one that has made a large portion of his wealth from portraying the use of guns and or full auto weapons he is showing an Elitist view point. Kind of hypocritical if you ask me! He'll use firearms to make money, but you are to dumb, or irresponsible to have a semi-auto rifle or a mag with more than 10 rounds! So Long Arnie!!!!!! :fire: :banghead: :cuss: :scrutiny:

I will start by saying that I am not in California.
You guys could tell me to STHU because it isn't my business, and you would probably be right.
Having said that, I think he is trying to win the moderate votes from both sides.
He supports gay relationships, but he doesn't want to call it marriage.
Looking at that as a moderate, pragmatic liberal, you might say that is an OK place to start.
You might also do the same as a moderate, pragmatic conservative.

He says he supports gun control, but only sort of.
?
I think he is trying to stay in the middle on purpose.
Whether or not that is good, who knows?
But it will be interesting to see if he can win without ever taking a side.

I do live in PDSR California....

and I have to agree with goon, Mr. S is trying to win without taking a side and offending anyone.

You have to remember; this is California and things are relative. A conservative is someone who is only somewhat left of center.

Here's the quandry:
Do I vote for Arnie, knowing he's quite liberal in many fields, on the premise that he's the only one who can win against Cruz Bustamonte (current Lieutenant Governor and another wild-eyed liberal)? Probably Arnie will be better than His Leftness, Gray Davis, the People's Democratic Governor. But so would King Farouk, and he's dead.

Or, do I vote my conscience? If I do that, then Bustamonte will win, and we will replace His Leftness with Su Izquerdidad.

Nuts.

Here's what I do, your mileage may vary:

If the race is close, I will vote Schwarzenegger. If Arnie has a commanding lead in the polls, I'll vote my conscience and give my vote to the only decent candidate on the ballot: McClintock. The more I learn about the guy the more I am amazed at his integrity.

And it's a dangerous position for Californians in my opinion. Straddling the fence while running means that no one really, on either side of the issues he talks about, will know his true position until after he's in power.

I'll be going this route as well. I'd much rather have McClintock than Arnie, but Bustamante would be worse than Davis, I'll be damned if I let him get into office.
