Please don't flame for cross posting with GT, but there was a discussion here a few weeks ago about this part, and as a Glock shooter I really want to post this there.

Yes, I said a slide stop extension for the G36. I have searched for this thing, and finally discovered it at Aro-Tek.

I'd read previously that Aro-Tek does not deliver the slide stop extension with the springs on, but that is NOT true. It came with the spring attached, so I did not have to cannibalize the one from my original Glock slide stop.

It showed up yesterday, so I was at the range today testing it! I shot 200 rounds (33 full magazines + 1 partial).

On the 4th magazine my G36 did slide-lock after 5 shots (one still in the magazine). I released the slide, took the last shot, shook my head and said, "One more of those and it comes out of my gun."

I shot 30 more magazines and it did not reoccur.

I'm giving it a guarded thumbs up since it performed perfectly after that. If I have any additional malfunctions then I'll report it, but I have so-so dexterity, so the extension makes my life easier. I'm going to leave it in as long as it continues to behave.

A note about Aro-Tek:

By reputation (and my experience thus far) they make quality stuff. BUT, they are terrible communicators.

First of all, their web site absolutely sucks, and doesn't even have a secure order form (you can send part of your credit card number by email to provide some security to your order).

On the order form is a check box to "Send me an order confirmation." I checked it, but never got a confirmation.

After four days I sent them a polite email asking for order status, and explaining that I hadn't heard a thing from them. "Did you receive my order?"

Never got a reply. But, five more days later the part arrived.

Good parts, lousy customer service.

Well, that about covers it! If you're dying for a G36 slide stop extension then you might want to give this a try.

Regards,
ChickenHawk

When I had my Glock 21 I had Aro-Tek work on it. I actually dropped it off at their shop in Auburn, WA when I lived there. They had it for a few days, I go the extended mag release, slide release and lighter trigger in it. The Slide release they make is HUGE compared to the factory Glock-nice. I know it's a slide "stop" and not a "release" but it's superior nonetheless. IMO...:)

Agreed! I'm going to go shoot another 200 rounds this weekend and if it doesn't slide lock inappropriately I'm going to call it ready for prime time.

I wouldn't worry much about just keeping the factory one. It's hard to use in casual range use, but when things get intense, it's not a problem. I thought I would have trouble with it in an IPSC match, but when the clock was running and the stress was on, I dropped the slide with it several times without a hiccup.

Well, like I said, my hand dexterity isn't great. So, a larger slide stop lever which is also a bit closer to my thumb adds greatly to ease-of-use for me.

Of course, YMMV! :)
