Bought the AK in mid 2006 from atlanticfirearms online. FYI, had good exp. With atlantic, and would buy from them again.

General Info…

- Gun…
- Arsenal Inc. of Las Vegas Sam 7 A1 R, 7.62x39
- milled receiver ( as opposed to stamped, most AKs are stamped )
- scope mount on the side
- paid $860

- have it zeroed in for 50 yards, I know it should be 25 yards but range will not let me shoot a high powered rifle at 25 yards next to the hand gunners, kinda stupid I think.
- Weather: 70 degrees and overcast
- Ammo used: Wolf Military classic HP 124gr. 7.62x39
- Sights: iron sights
- I did try my leupold 4x12 scope on a belrus mount BUT did not include for range info
- Position: all shots from bench rest
- Shooter: average to below average shooter, I am near sighted but do not wear glasses
- all groups were three shot groups
- Date: 09/10/2006

50 yard range info…

- 2 inch groups from cold barrel
- 2-3 inch groups from hot barrel

50 yard with 4x12 Leupold scope…
- had to really drift LOW to get it hitting the paper plate sized target
- in three shots would work like a champ, next three shoots 5 mins later after no changes, it was WAY HIGH (6-8 inches) once again, out of the clear blue
- not sure what was happening so I gave up using it for today

100 yard range info…

- 2-3 inch groups from cold barrel
- 2-4 inch groups from hot barrel


Conclusions…

- The gun shoots better than me, I am the weak link
- Even with Wolf ammo on a milled AK, consistent COM shots are easily achievable in 100 yards.
- A milled AK and a high quality stamped AK can produce similar results. Got very similar groups from my stamped Armory USA/Global Trades AMD-63.
- the iron sights can get fuzzy very fast at 50 and 100 yards after repeated focusing, which at times made it kinda hard to shot, but not too bad.
- Very happy with my purchase, no regrets.
- Gonna have to figure out what is going on with the scope and mount, something is not right, will have to figure it out.

I purchased an Arsenal SAM 7S about 4 years ago from Machine Gun Kelley's in Las Vegas. Use it with a Russian Kobra red dot sight. Just installed a Blackhawk cheek pad to get a better cheek weld to the stock when using the Kobra. Firing groups tend to be similar to those you have experienced. You mentioned you are using, with little success, a Belarus manufactured mount for an optical scope. Some of the Belarus mounts do not fit the Russian style side rail. If yours slides on from the front, no matter what you do it will shift forward when firing. Great for a Romanian AK but not ours. If it slides on from the rear of the rail you are probably OK but need to ckeck the assembly screws on the mount. They will loosten up a bit and drive you nuts. Get some Loctite or similar, apply it to the threads and tighten things down. Should end the mount problems.

I have been extremely happy with all 6 of my Arsenal rifles, all of them are very accurate and have been totally reliable.

Two of mine have a scope mount but I have not used the mount yet, however I am thinking of putting some type of red dot on my SFC soon.

Arsenal has their **** in one sock, it appears. My 1996-vintage Bulgarian SLR-95 turned my opinion of Kalashnikov rifles completely around. 2" groups at 100 yards are the norm for the milled receiver SLR-95, using 123-125gr handloads burning AA1680.

I have a pair of milled Arsenal Inc AKs -- a post-ban SLR101 etched (?) "Bulgaria" and a recent SA-M7 stamped Nevada. There is a big difference in the quality of the appearance of the internals, but both are equally reliable.

The best mod I did was to ad the Krebs peep sight. It's a bear to put on, but worth the struggle -- it's night and day superior to the stock sighting system. I put a spot of white paint on the front sight, which I find helps. Someday I'd like to get the front night sight for it, but it's just not a priority right now.

My only complaint about the Arsenal's is that the only aftermarket furniture available is from K-VAR, and it's limited and expensive. Since I have two, I wanted to dress one up differently, with something like the Choate Dragunov stock, or maybe just one of the SAW pistol grips... learned the hard way that nothing fits (even when the manufacterer says "fits both stamped and milled"). I suppose I could cut one of the tangs off, but I'd hate to alter the gun that way.

Just received a Email from Arsenal this AM. They have discontinued the manufacture of milled receiver AK's and go strictly to the stamped receivers. Stated that should they ever restart the mfg of milled ones it will be on a very limited specialty basis. So, our old ones will probably go up in value as time passes. Guess all good things have to end.

beerslurpy- That's a nice looking folding stock. What kind is it? How does it attach? Do you like it? Does it have any flex or wobble? Will it attach to a gun with a fixed stock?

Kestrel, I got the standard one. While Arsenal's are accurate "for an AK", I was not worried about the ability to make minor adjustments so it did not justify the extra expense for me. They've stopped making the more expensive adjustable one (although I think they are still available), so they probably weren't selling well.

Interesting that they are going to stamped only. Is there a 'press release' that states why? Of course their given reason may only be part of the picture. Kimber went to external extractors claiming they are a better solution, but many folks think they did it simply because they are less expensive to produce.

Ace LTD skeleton folder. No, it doesnt wobble. Ace makes very good stuff. Tony Rumore did the install and the refinishing.

Except for ppl like me. I lost control and couldn't help myself and bought one of the few remaining arsenal sam-7 milled ak's .:banghead: I currently own a romanian wasr-10 and it works fine at the range but the recoil is rough. I wanted a high quality ak to compare and just to have a collection. By the way nice collection gixerman. Will I notice a difference between the wasr-10 and the arsenal as far as recoil is concerned? I'm sure there will be a big quality difference.

Beerslurpy, how much modification did it take to the gun to make the ACE work? I'm wondering if it's something that requires a gunsmith -- I can't tell from your post.

MyRoad, there's two types of receiver adapters for that folder. One requires removing both top and bottom tangs and modification to the receiver. The other requires removal of the bottom tang but no other modifications.

Has anyone with a milled Arsenal AK tried using the adapter that only requires that one tang be removed? I'd just hate to cut them both out.

I just learned that I think you cannot put a collapsible (m4 style) stock from a stamped receiver type ak(wasr 10) on to a milled receiver ak
(arsenal). I was going to do this until I did some research online. That sucks , it just means more money.Anybody know more about this?
