i just got me an Arsenal SGL20. i have not received it yet, but was wondering what are the first things i need for it. what magazines are good for it? does it handle most standart AK mags? steel mags or synthetic mags? i was also planning on putting a two point sling on it. do i need something for this gun to latch the front part of the sling to? any recomendations for sights? i was planning on just using the irons. any tips on sighting in or using the irons? what range is this gun good for? i have a M1A and shoot it at 200yds. i assume this gun is more of a 50 to 100yd gun.

any help would be great. thanks.

I like Bulgarian waffle mags, but most any AK mags are fine and your rifle should work with any of them.

It is an AK; trying to do anything super special to it is kind of like lipstick on a pig in my opinion. Irons or a Russian optic using the side rail should be fine.

There is no sling on mine; not sure what people do for that. You will want an AK sight adjustment tool to take with you when zeroing.

Torso-target hits should be doable well past 100 yards.

Commie steel mags are cheap and work perfectly fine.

The standard AK sling is designed to fit the mounting points on the rifle, as you would expect. I use a Israeli sling that's mounted on paracord loops on mine. I got it from Zahal.

The stock irons are perfectly good for getting hits out to 300 yards or so. I've hit 12” plate at 300 yards with mine with no problem at local matches using the stock iron sights.

If you want to go with optics later there are some pretty darn good ones at low prices that work with the side optics plate. I've got a PSOP 6x42 on one AK and a PK-23 one the other one. Eastwave.com is a good supplier.
