Thought you all might be interested in this article in the Stanford University alumni magazine about Sandy Froman '71, current NRA President. Despite the fact that the article is from a "liberal" university, the article is pretty positive for our side. The 2 sidebar articles are worth a read as well.

Of course, it is interesting to note that she lives in Arizona now, and not California.

Excellent article! She is the ideal kind of person to be leading the NRA: Ivy League, Jewish, from California, a woman, and likable instead of confrontational. I'm glad she's doing it.

Good article. There were some things there about Mrs. Froman that I was unaware of.

Couple of things that I had issue with... All by the brady bunch's spokesperson. For instance:
“We don’t want to ban guns. We want to keep criminals from getting them.”
:fire:
What's with all the gun bans that they support, then? They have tried to ban EBR's is middle of the road calibers like .223 and .308, Large caliber handguns and rifles (.500s&w, .50BMG), small caliber handguns and rifles (5.7mm), 'ugly' weapons, cheap weapons, shotguns that aren't set up as bird guns... Show me one instance of a gun ban that the brady bunch wasn't in favor of?

Ok, I'll calm down now...

Most gun legislation is a proxy for fixing social ills “nobody wants to talk about,” Froman says.

Amen. Sounds like she's onto one of my favorite subjects there..."let's talk about guns instead of talking about the futility of the drug war, the urban decay, the failure of society to properly educate its students, etc." Gun control--not much about guns, mostly about control.
