I'm thinking about selling my doublestar upper assembly, that is the complete upper receiver, bolt carrier assembly, 16" M4 5.56 1:9 barrel w/nicely cut down A2 pinned FSB, carbine length gas system, and YHM rifle length smooth free float forarm. The receiver has a few dings on both sides, nothing hideously noticable but it is definitly there. Will get pics up very soon.

I just want to sell the upper because I want to start over with a different configuration and figured this would be the best and of course, cheapest route. This is not a for sale thread, I'm simply wondering what would be a fair asking price for this upper assembly. Thanks for any input.

The cut down FSB probably hurts you since it makes it hard to sell the upper and rail separately. So you've got to find someone who really wants it like it is. You may end up keeping it and going with two uppers, and of course you know that eventually leads to another lower. :p

you're probably right. I was really hoping to get some kind of midlength upper, since you cant use mid length handguards on an M4 profile barrel with the 203 cut like I have. But I guess a carbine works just as well, and handguard length doesnt really matter when you have a VFG attached.

Well it wouldn't hurt to try to sell the upper. Dissipator style uppers are popular so you might just find someone who'll pay enough that you don't get hurt too bad.

Definitely put up some pictures and maybe you'll get better estimates here.

don't have an endcap for the muzzle end of the forarm. the round count is about 2500. I would say 3000 as an absolute max. not one issue with it so far.

Try touching up those dings and scratches with some Birchwood Casey Aluminum Black.

so if i get those spots touched up, what do you guys believe would be a fair asking price? still about $300 even with the handguard?

i think that now i may actually be more interested in selling just the free float handguard assembly, and keeping the upper assembly as it is, in my opinion, of very good quality. I plan on getting a set of carbine length magpul MOE handguards, and would like to also get an 11.5" government profile bbl w/pinned A2 FSB/Gas block...any suggestions as far as the barrel go?
