I just picked up a copy of "Assault Rifle: The Development of the Modern Military Rifle and its Ammunition," the new book by Max Popenker and Anthony G. Williams. I've only had a chance to read a few pages, but it appears to be the most comprehensive and thorough book on the subject I've ever seen. I can't wait to read it. I'll post a review on Amazon.com as soon as I finish. From what I've seen so far, it's going to be an extremely positive review.

Another interesting book that covers the early days of the "assault rifle" as well as some other fascinating firearms is Guns of the Third Reich by John Walter which came out last year.

Tony is a member. I don't know about Max.

I'm kicking myself because I forgot the book on my desk and I don't go back to the office until Friday. I was looking forward to reading it tonight.
