I know you guys here are more experienced than me with handguns, but I put on lay away an Astra a-75 .40 cal for 269.00 recently. I liked how it looked and being that I didnt have the entire amount on hand I had them hold it. It looks great and felt good. I would like some feed back if anyone has any experience with them.

I am not as big of a fan of Astra as some of the the other Spanish guns but they are all good. Spanish guns are underrated. For $269, you can't go wrong.

Astras are pretty well made pistols and not the 'Spanish junk' people associate with 'Ruby" and other fly by night makers of cheap pot metal revolvers and autos.

The A-75L was my first 9mm purchase. It is very similar to the .40. Astra uses the same mags for .40 & 9mm if you can find them these days. The gun fits my hand probably about the best of any DA gun I have ever held. The DA trigger is long, heavy and crappy and the SA trigger is decent. The internals are kind of rough but it's been a decent gun. The factory recoil spring didn't last long before "taking a set" and weakening...maybe 500 rounds. You can get Wolffe springs and you're good to go. I think I paid $249 for it back in the early 90's.

I never shoot it anymore but keep it because I'm sentimental about it and it is indeed a nice looking and handling gun. $269 for yours sounds like a good price as long as your willing to let it become a safe queen after a while...except for the aforementioned spring, parts and mags are hard to come by.

A friend has the same gun except in 9mil. It's a nifty piece. He paid $257 OTD at our friendly pawn broker's. I'd have bought it but I've too many nines as it is. A forty should be a great carry.

I had an A-75 in .40 and it was a little rust prone while hiking on a hot day (what isn't) but it was totally reliable and a good little gun. Yet another one I wish I had kept.
