My Astra M 600 pistol arrived today. I'm super happy with the condition although I'm sure it has been reblued. It came with a black flap holster that's supposed to be E german police issue and has a spare mag.. I have a couple of M 400's that I shoot once in a while so I;m looking forward to firing this one soon if the weather cooperates.

Would love to see a range report and maybe even a pic or three. I keep looking at them and then deciding no, as I have read recoil is awful, or at least nasty, or maybe just uncomfortable, errr, unpleasant?

I've got a couple of Stars and one Astra, an A100 which is very similar to my Sig P6. Had an A70, SA but traded it as part of a deal for a Walther PPX (there really was no place for a single action, all steel, concealable pistol in my accumulation. It was just a range gun and I figure I can shoot the PPX better. It's got an amazing trigger.)

Good luck with it.

I have one. The trigger isn't good enough for me to get great accuracy out of it. However, they are well built pistols. High quality...

They are completely different from the Sig-like Astra "A" Series.

It's a heavier pistol and I don't find the recoil excissive. Trigger isn't bad and 9mm isn't known for recoil. This one was made in 1943. I'm not able to post pics, sorry.

9mm is not generally known for excessive recoil, but the Astra 600 is a straight blowback design. It definitely a bit more harsh than most 9mms, especially most all steel 9mms. The low bore axis keeps the muzzle down, which is good.

As for the trigger, its not bad compared to what? I guess its ok for a 70 year old military pistol, but its certainly not a trigger for precision target shooting or even decent range plinking either.

Joem 1945 I would strongly urge yo to put new springs in the gun. They are cheap and available from Wolff and others. Cheap ins. Pull the recoil spring out of your gun. If it is the same length as the bottom of the slide, it is ready for replacement. If it is the same length or shorter than the top of the slide, it is wasted.

You will probably find that your gun will feed anything you put in the mag. Mine feeds empty cases. You shouldn't be restricted to hardball only.

Had a 400 and a 600, bought in the sixties for 20 and 30 bucks respectively. The 400 was advertised to handle about every 9 in the book. I stuck with the stuff I bought with it although I did shoot a couple 38 autos and 9s. The 600 was better but not terribly accurate.
Wish I still had them both. Could trade for something cool like a Springfield Range Officer 9.

The first semi-auto pistol I had was an Astra Model 600. It was made in 1943 and came with a flap holster and a spare magazine. Actually the trigger on mine was fairly decent but the recoil was brutal on the web of my hand and I usually kept my range session limited to just 50 rounds. Definitely not a "fun" gun to shoot but it was very solidly built and overall it had excellent fit and finish.
