I saw a 20 ga shotgun today that was ticketed as an ATA Arms SA-08. It was used and priced at $359. The gun store, like most around here, was small and crowded, so I didn't get to talk to a salesperson about it. I'm guessing that it's a semi-auto. Are any of you folks familiar with this gun?

If it's not junk I might be interested. I'm looking for a home defense shotgun. No hunting. Probably not even any clays. So it won't get used much at all. Just take it out once in a while to keep familiar. I have a 12 ga pump that I don't care for, so I'm not interested in those.

Any thoughts on this ATA SA-08? Thanks for any input.

Its imported by tristar. I have no personal experience, but I would save up another $100 and get something a little better with a better reputation

So my research has found that the ATA SA-08 is made in Turkey. Is it possible that the ATA SA-08 is the same or very similar to the Weatherby SA-08? Not that I'm familiar with the Weatherby either, but if I knew that they were basically the same, I'd probably feel better about the ATA version.

Any input?

I have a Weatherby SA-08, and I don't know if the ATA is the same, but they sure look like it. The Weatherby is also made in Turkey, and so far it has been perfect, absolutely no problems.

I bought an sa-08 last year under the mossberg name, the wife really likes it an it has had no problems thus far
