ATF E-Form Question

Submitted my Form-1 for SBR on 7 May and am wondering if they do any kind of updates to the system when the processing begins. I've signed in and see no further action such as an internal number or anything.

Do they update the system as the form progresses or do I have to use the old fashion call in? I know its early in the process but its the first time I've used 3-file and want to make sure I didn't botch the form.

No updates. After the confirmation of your initial submission there will be silence until one day you will get an email saying it has been approved. This assumes there aren't any errors. I submitted one with a mistake and received a phone call to fix it about a week before it was approved.

What was the turn around time from file to approval?

My first one took ~30 days, not so now. Check with NFAtracker, you can filter the results to suit your needs.

Longest was around three months, shortest was 40 days including Christmas vacation.

I just had one approved in March, took about 40 days.

Just got my stamp on an E-file for an SBR; mine took 90 days.

Submitted one in February got it back in 10 weeks.

Still waiting on mine from March. At least they can't lose my paperwork like the last form 3 I had... but I guess I shouldn't put it completely past them lol. Maybe servers go down and clear mine haha.

I have an SBR Form 1 in the queue right now via the e-file system. I believe that one went in on tax day. Still waiting, of course.

They don't update the status. It just goes from pending to approved.
Two friends of mine have been waiting 8 and 10 weeks so far and are hoping they'll be approved shortly.

It's interesting that the trends seem to be that the eForms times are increasing while the paper form times are decreasing. It's like they're converging in the middle. If that "sweet spot" ends up being the three-month mark, I doubt a lot of people will complain too much. Waiting is hard, but 3 months is short in comparison to what it has been for paper forms at times.

Maybe for you but for those of us that are only used to 5-10 week e-forms 3 months is WAAAAY to long.
