ATF goes after sellers of 80% parts/kits before new rule is to go into effect on 8/24/22.

After JSD Supply received a cease-and-desist letter from ATF to stop selling parts and kits on the website, they pulled down the website and sued ATF represented by Gun Owners of America (GOA).

When ATF lawyers failed to respond to GOA's request for why the early enforcement of the rule, a temporary restraining order (TRO) request was made. The TRO request was denied, but the judge scheduled a hearing for a preliminary injunction against the ATF. The decision on the preliminary injunction is expected within a week.

ATF sent another cease-and-desist letter to KM Tactical after purchasing a Polymer80 kit and determined it to be a firearm. GOA argued ATF was again applying the new rule before it was to go into effect on 8/24/22.

Division80, a company formed in Texas filed a lawsuit regarding the new rule with GOA, Firearms Policy Coalition (FPC), and Second Amendment Foundation (SAF).

Strange that the ATF issued a Cease and Desist letter to JSD Supply for selling 80% kits and all of the other parts necessary to complete a firearm, but hasn't sent the same Cease and Desist letter to Brownells, who also sell all of the same 80% kits and components.
