Hello

I ran across one of these at my LGS for a little under $400. I haven't heard too much about the gun's rep.

Have any of you guys had any experience with these? Know anybody who has? Is it worth the money?

I just want a new 1911 to play around with. :D

Thanks

I don't have experience with the 1911 but I bought the ATI C92.

I was so impressed with the gun I bought two more.
Two friends bought two each.
The small local gun store manager said it's his biggest seller.

I would assume that ATI puts such quality in all their guns, so the 1911 is probably a nice one.

CDNN is selling the C92's for $299. I have one. Excellent gun. It doesn't look, feel, or shoot like a knockoff. It's as good as a "real" beretta 92, and reportedly, all parts exchange with the Beretta, so you don't ever need to worry about parts availability.

The story on these, supposedly, is that Beretta contracted with whatever turkish factory to build these to be branded as Berettas and sold to foreign militaries. Beretta sent plans and tooling. At some point, Beretta canceled the contract, but the factory kept pumping them out. ATI bought the whole batch, stamped them as ATI's, and then sold the entire batch to CDNN.

Supposedly.

harmon r. That would be incorrect. You can get the c92 from other retailers as well. Buds has them every once in a while.

I love my c92. I've handled their 1911. For $400 it's not bad, but I want a skeletonized trigger, extended safety, and extended slide release. Though the ati has more consistant quality than the metroarms 1911.

I think I'll pick up the 1911 this weekend. The savings will allow me to get some mags and holster too :D

ATI doesnt make any guns, they only import guns. With that said, I had an ATI 9mm that was horrible and my Metro Arms 1911 has been flawless. I think that there is not enough info for that kind of assumption to be made. YMMV.

This. Quality of the gun depends on who actually made it. Whatever Turkish factory makes the C92's is excellent, and I'd trust any of the ATI stuff by that factory (they have some other Beretta clones, CZ clones, etc). No idea who is doing their 1911's.

For a cheap 1911, I'd go with a known quantity, and get a RIA.

I'm pretty sure that Shooters Arms Manufacturing in the Phillipines make the ATI 1911. At least thats what I've heard.

Yavuz Girsan from Turkey makes the C92, and the newer 1911s are made by Shooters Arms from the Philipines. They used to have a 1911 made by Tisas from Turkey, that was the brand I had a problem with the 9mm they made. I don't know that the SAM 1911s are any better than RIA or Metro Arms, but the pistols made by Yavuz Girsan seem to get rave reviews so far.
