ATI Titan Springs and Poor Feeding

I just picked up an ATI Titan. Looks nice. Pretty darn accurate, but it has feeding issues (I know, not atypical). Won't feed hollow points at all, and with the factory ACT magazine, it fails to feed about half of the time for the first 4 rounds. Other magazines are less problematic, but it still generally misfeeds more than once per mag. Even when it feeds, I can often feel it hang up, with the spring haltingly pushing it into the chamber. It hangs up between the ramp in the frame and the barrel.

My idea is to increase the strength of the recoil spring assembly, by purchasing extra power springs for the Colt Defender spring assembly.

Does anyone know the approximate poundage of the ATI springs? I believe the standard for the Defender is 19 lbs, and some have opined online that the ATI springs are weaker.

I think I will try 21 lbs springs, but would like correction if you have a better idea.

(I know another option is to swap it out for a complete Colt assembly, but they are either out-of-stock or pricey, as far as I can tell, and I would like to try the cheaper option of swapping springs first.)

Let me know if you have any other ideas.

I assume you used the Colt spring assembly, or did you just swap out the springs?

Did the standard Colt springs seem higher power than the ATI, or do you think the improvement was due to the construction of the assembly.

I used the spring assembly and the ATI spring assembly was sub-standard. It basically beat itself to death. I also used a Wolf mainspring but I can't remember the weight. 20 or 21lbs I think. I will have to dig through some boxes and see if I can find it. I had to cut a little off of it so it would lock back. Once I got the right length is has been perfect.

I might have listed the spring rate in the thread link I posted. That thread has continued for a few years. My Titan has a serial number under 300 so it was one of the first ones shipped out. I think they changed the assembly but the Colt Defender assembly seems to be better made. I bought a few of them and a bag of the Wolf springs so I can replace them when the reliability declines.

Mine has always been accurate and feeds jacketed, hollow points and the copper plated ones I handload.

Thanks again. I think I'll put a colt assembly on backorder at Brownells. Maybe also get some extra power springs to see if I can get the ATI assembly running in the meantime.

Oh, one other thing, did you also get the Colt reverse bushing, or did the ATI part work with the Colt RSA?

I ordered mine directly from Colt. Every place I checked it was on backorder so I called them up and they were in stock and got to me in a few days. I used the ATI bushing and I haven't had any issues with it. If my accuracy starts to fade I will replace.
