Hi,

I'm in the market for a revolver... more specifically, something in the line of a S&W M60, M19, M66, M619, or M620, or possibly a Ruger SP101.

Can anyone recommend a place in the Atlanta area for price & service?

Thanks

The closest I know of is Franklin's of Athens in Athens, GA, but their prices are a little high and their service is a little low. They do usually have a pretty good selection. Sorry I couldn't be more help.

Atl Gun Shop

Try Adventure Outdoors. They're at: 2295 South Cobb Dr. Smyrna GA (770) 333 9880. I like them alot. Nice place and good variety.
When you end up buying the gun try heading right over to Hot Shots Pistol Range and Gun Shop to practice with it. They're very close at: 2445 Austell Road Marietta GA (770)436 6600. HAPPY SHOOTING!!!

Depends on what side of town you're on and how far you want to travel. I normally buy my rifles from Tucker Guns on Lawrenceville Highway; they've got a good selection of handguns also but really specialize in rifles.

You might also try Adventure Outdoors in Smyrna; they specialize in more handguns but have an outstanding selection of rifles along their walls. I think they are right on the corner of Windy Hill and South Cobb Drive; they have a lot of treestands out in the front of their location. In my opinion their prices are better than The Candler Road Pawn Shops' in Decatur.

Very fond of American Classic Marksman in Norcross (5303 Peachtree Industrial).

Good guys. Good (female friendly, if that matters) place. Good prices. Good indoor 25 yard range.

For price and service, I have two recommendations.

1) Adventure Outdoors. Mentioned previously... fantastic place. Great staff. Reasonable prices. Probably the most guns in town. Use the search function on their website to see if they have what you want. Go to "superstore" and then "gunstore"... I can't link directly to it.

2) Bullseye in Lawrenceville. 20 miles or so from Atlanta. Not as big of a selection, but their prices are right on if not super good. Staff rocks. They also rent full-autos and have a 25yard pistol and rifle range attached. One stop shop... err shoot.

On the other side of town is Georgia Range and Gun, down by the Farmer's Market at 75S & 285.

Down in Forest Park is Forest Park Army Navy and Tactical Gear Supply. (like those two)

In Austell is HotShots on Austell road. (has range too)

I seem to recall a place called "David's Gun Room" but for the life of me can't recall where it is.

I would go with Hot Shots 770-436-6600. Call for a price. Most shops don't stock a lot of revolvers anymore. When you buy from a shop with a range you usually save. Free range time, etc. Buy a membership for unlimited shooting,10 % savings on most purchases, for $275 per year-300 for two people. Normally $10 per hour for the range.
Sounds crude, but where ever you shoot indoors, blow your nose after shooting-check the tissue. If it's black-don't go back!!!

Oh, yeah... Ed's on Canton -- Hwy 5 off 75N
I seem to recall some decent prices, and they give you some free range time if you buy a gun there.

Tucker Gun has the rudest employees of any gun shop I have ever been in. They would have to pay me to shop there.

The folks at American Classic have always been very helpful. No gunsmith on site, however.

I always find what I'm looking for at the Eastman Shows. As a matter of fact, this weekend Eastman's will be at the N. Atlanta Trade Center in Gwinnett.

NFI, YMMV

There's a show there this weekend?

Damn... girlfriend is overdrawn, waiting for ATF to cash a check, Christmas shopping (of a non-gun nature)... Yes - timing was never my forte.

Yeah. It's usually the best one they have, the Dec. Gwinnett show. Last year they were standing in line all the way around the building, over lapping, to get into that one.

The following weekend it's in Gainesville. It's a decent show usually. Not nearly as many vendors there, though.

Another +1 for Adventure Outdoors. They are the only place in Atlanta that i have found that has anything approaching a good selection. They are big supporters for LEO, and are associated with Bob Barr and 2nd amendment supporters. I have not been to a couple of the others listed, but that is my .02c worth.

For what Hotshot charges, you can get a membership at an outdoor range with multiple options for shooting, rifles, shotguns, etc. I have never shot there, but $275 per year is the highest that i have ever seen in Atlanta for indoor range membership.

Thanks Folks

>Adventure Outdoors... the corner of Windy Hill and South Cobb Drive...

OMG, that's where I used to go shoot 25 years ago. They're still there? Cool! (they sold me a crappy Colt Gov't .45 though... wouldn't feed anything... but, not their fault.)

I'll try American Classic Marksman too... this gun is half for me, and half for my wife, so yeah, "female friendlly" is good. And, we're in Cumming, so Norcross is relatively close.

Thanks everyone.

I agree with SniperStraz and Pictoblu
AO in Smyrna I used to shop when I lived in Marietta,(80-95) - it was a converted pawn shop with some LEO equipment
Tucker gun - I bought an RRA Varmint model from them online about 3 months ago...terrible -non existant customer service--never again
great rifle cra--y shop

David's is in Buford. Hot Shots has been good to me. Moss Pawn on the South Side is my favorite, though--ask for Barry--good selection and they'll deal on the prices.

Classic Marksman in Norcross is very friendly and helpful.

I agree that Tucker Gun Shop has poor customer service. Might not be an issue for everyone tho'.

Wild West Traders is the old Hot Shots range... as a matter of fact I think the pawn shop next door is still named such.

That's where I go to shoot pistols, and I've had good service there, FWIW.

I like it because it's clean, the employees are friendly and have good info, and it's the closest gun shop to where I live.

YMMV.

welcome to thr. the only place near there that i know of is a place in stockbridge ga that isn't to far from atlanta they are a glock leo dealer and they have a nice variety.

good luck findin the s&w model 19, i have wanted one for a long time, and my dad has one, and he just told me that he will let me have it when i get a safe to keep it in. i am so excited, and i sure do hope that you are able to find it, or whatever you are looking for.
