Is there an adhesive that is particularly good for attaching a recoil pad to a stock?

Recoil pads are attached with two screws so they can be easily taken off and replaced when necessary.

They are not glued on.

They are considered an expendable, with a useful life of 25-30 years typically before they get hard, or start to crumble.

The stock could outlast a recoil pad 10 times over if properly cared for.

Again...^^^. There you go. No more answers are necessary. As a followup, if you glue the pad to the stock, you will just be sorry later.

To make a long story even longer, had a glued on recoil pad to a very nice Winchester model 64, that had a very short stock to begin with, had to cut the stock down even further to remove the old recoil pad before installing the new one properly. The previous owner was not the brightest star in the sky.

To make the story even longer. HS Precision and Mcmillan pads are glued on, no screws used.

In those cases I use black bedding to install them when changing them out for a customer.

I use good rubber cement to glue on pads cut of the soles of shower shoes. They aren't that hard to remove with a knife. First one I put on is still good after 25 years.

Use screws as RC said. If you are particularly adverse to using screws on a nice wood stock, there are several brands that make slip on recoil pads for common rifles. Or foot the bill to get something custom made.
