So me and my girlfriend went up to the range today to have some fun. We got all set up and ready to shoot when we looked down the range and there was some tomatoes charging slowly at us. I kind of recognized them because they looked like the tomatoes that we had gotten about a week ago and forgot about, and they where starting to go bad. I guess I didn’t realize how bad the had turned..they must have gotten in the car some how and followed us to the range…and the brought some big friends with them, 3 enforcer pumpkins. Well we weren’t scared to much because the where moving very slowly and we had brought enough firepower to take care the likes of them. We had with us a Calico Liberty II, Romak -3, Finnish M39, Cobray M11 SMG, NAA .22 revolver, H&R 30-30 single shot and a H&R .410 bolt action shot gun.
Well they where about 100 yards out and we didn’t have anything loaded yet, so she takes her H&R 30-30 and starts to fire away to try and slow there advance, while I loaded up the Romak-3. She got 3 or 4 rounds off by the time I got the gun loaded (She wasn’t doing very well with the gun today, didn’t hit them with it but kept them ducking to buy us some time) So I got the Romak-3 all loaded and was ready to fire. I guess I wasn’t doing to well either because out to the 15 shot I took I only hit 1 of the 3 pumpkins about 4 times. It must have been on something good because it didn’t really slow it down much, they just kept coming slowly in at us.
Well we had decided that there advance was so slow that we should let them come in closer so that it would be easier to hit them. I guess we where to nerves and that was throwing our aim off at the longer dispenses. So we loaded up the rest of the guns and kept an eye on there advance.
They have moved in pretty close be the time we had finished loading up the rest of the guns. So we grabbed our guns and went out on the field to met there advance (we where about 25 yard away now). She grabbed her .410 shot gun and I grabbed my Cobray, Calico and NAA. She got a bead on one of the pumpkins and fired away and had a much better effected on the pumpkins then the Romak-3 did. I blew out the back of it and sent gusts flying everywhere and it stopped it in it’s tracks, she shot it a few more times just to make sure and the turned her attention to the evil tomatoes and took out a few of though.
I took my Cobray and went after one of the other pumpkins. I had just gotten a red dot for it and was trying it out for the first time and it really helped. I was able to hit it about 15 out for 25 times and it sent chucks of pumpkin everywhere. Then I took my Calico and went after the tomatoes and got all but 2( there was seven of them). One had hid behind some wood and I had to go up close and take it out with my NAA .22 revolver. It took 5 shot to make it stop.
So there was one pumpkin and one tomato still up and advancing and I was out of bullets, but my girlfriend still had some shells left and went to work on the last of them. It only took one shot to take out the tomato and 3 or 4 shot to stop the last pumpkin (he was a big bustard). Well after we wiped off the pumpkin and tomato guts we decided that it was time to go home because we didn’t know what other produce was out there lurking in the trees. So we packed up and headed home to clean out the refrigerator to make sure that this didn’t happen again.
Well let this be a lesson for all of you out there, don’t let your produce go bad, it might come back to haunt you.
