Pretty tough woman!

http://wkrg.com/news/article/attacker_jumps_out_of_womans_shower/8932/

A Santa Rosa County woman is alive tonight because she fought off an intruder.
According to deputies, Chris Price broke into a woman's home on Javid Road in Milton Monday morning around 9:30. He was hiding in the shower. When the victim walked into the bathroom, Price jumped out and held a gun to her head.
The woman managed to get the gun away from Price, then pointed it at him and pulled the trigger. But the gun did not go off.
Deputies say Price then stabbed her in the hand with a hunting knife. The knife broke off in her hand.
Whn Price pushed her to the floor and tried to strangle her, the woman grabbed her cell phone to call 911. But Price grabbed the phone and broke it.
In a sheer act of desperation, the woman pulled the broken knife out of her hand and stabbed Price. She then managed to get away and ran to a neighbor's house, who called 911.
Deputies eventually found Price hiding in a storage shed behind a home on Dalisa Road. He had blood on his hands and face.
The victim was taken to Santa Rosa Hospital.
After his arrest, Price told deputies he planned to sexually assault the victim. He faces numerous charges including aggravated assault, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, kidnapping and armed burglary.

BTW, the news said the gun was actually a bb gun.

I worked with an animal control buddy a few times (for some christmas cash...) and conered cats.... Well, it isn't a pretty sight and those claws and teeth are VERY sharp. As my buddy says, "five of the six ends of a cat are pointy and sharp and are a natural extension".

Good for her, you never know how people will react unless you put them in that situation.

Well she wasn't armed but this makes a good point I think everyone of us need to stress to people we know: Don't give up defend yourself at all costs. Even if it means prying a knife out of part of your body and stabbing your attacker with it.

I'm impressed. If there is contact info for this woman I'll give her a free shotgun. I'll even pay for the transfer and shipping.

I wonder if there is a way to let her know about the offer?

Well, I'm glad she made it out alive but why no attempted murder charges??? It's not like he didn't try!

I thought women weren't supposed to have guns because the attacker WILL take it from them? ;)

I honestly hope that if I were in a similar situation I would have the ability to do the same thing as this woman, assuming I couldn't get to my gun of course.

Amazing presence of mind and determination by that lady! I doubt many folks in the same circumstance would ever think of pulling a broken knife out of their hand and then turn it around and stab the attacker.

I admire her will to survive. I bet that perp is glad he only had a cheap gun and cheap knife. "Gee, I am sure glad I left the chainsaw, machete, and MG240 at home for this one!"

I would be willing to chip in and pay for some shotgun shells for her if anyone ends up getting a shotgun to her for her bravery .

Silverlance, if she's over 18 the newspaper can legally reveal her name and so can the police station - whether or not they will is a matter of their discretion. I'd recommend contact the news station or the police station and ask if they'll pass on your information to her. That's much less sketchy than asking for her information, as they may think you're a friend of the bad guy!

But if you explain your position as an EAI Representative and that you'd like her to contact you about a reward/prize/giveaway, they may pass it on for you. Though I'm not sure how either would respond if you called up and said "I want to give this lady a shotgun." Not everyone thinks like we do.

But thats how I think you might be able to contact her.

Whn Price pushed her to the floor and tried to strangle her, the woman grabbed her cell phone to call 911. But Price grabbed the phone and broke it.

And that underscores that 911 is not Johnny on the spot when you are FTF with a bad guy.

Good for her for not giving up.

Oh wait, she would have been morally superior if she had let him rape her and then been a good witness. I forgot.*

*even in my sarcastavoice, that makes me puke

Bluestarlizzard, an earlier poster said the gun turned out to be a BB gun. The reason it probably didn't work was because it wasn't loaded/spring cocked or anything.

Once criminal charges are brought, the court file is a matter of public record. The warrants or indictments should have the victim's name.

Good luck.

I'm serious about my earlier comment. But I don't know how to look up court records and I don't want to seem like a crazy stalker. If someone helps me with that, I'll make good on it and perhaps we might get another THR member.

bb gun?..... this supports my theroy that most criminals are dumb butts...
this lady sounds like she can serouisly take care of business. wish there were more like her in our country....

Lady is tough. Kudos for her fighting back. If she were a soldier, she'd get a medal.
