I bought a Lone wolf ported barrel for my Glock 17. When I use it, I am not getting the slide to action properly. I know I need a lighter spring, but how light? I don’t even know the lbs on the stock spring. Thanks for any help you provide!

Is the barrel standard length, or extended? If standard lenth, is your Slide ported as well?

You probably don't need a lighter recoil spring. You can go as low as 11 pounds with a 9mm, but it's not necessary.

What is the problem, exactly?

(And excellent question Hounddog!)

Could you explane a little more?

17 pounds is the stock spring.

Because of the striker firing system on Glocks, you can't reduce the recoil spring below 15 pounds without reducing the striker spring as well. The striker spring will pull the slide slightly out of battery when you pull the trigger if the recoil spring is too weak or the striker spring is too strong.

A 15 pound recoil spring shoul be plenty light. I like the ISMI springs and uncaptured guid rods from TopGlock.

Some barrel manufacturers state they may require minor fitting.
I see the Lone Wolf brand states no gunsmithing required, but I have a gut feeling it's a minor fit issue...but without actually seeing the pistol or knowing more about your issue, this is just wild speculation (of course that's what the internet is best for).

It stovepipes with the ported barrel. It is the one that extends past the slide and has two ports on the top

Try hotter ammo and/or a 15 pound recoil spring to get the slide moving faster.

A tungsten guide rod wouldn't hurt. They add a little weight up high which helps too.

Inspect your barrel and slide closely for unusual wear in case your barrel is too large, causing drag.

Also try shooting them an e-mail or a phone call about it, when I bought my 40-9 ported barrel for my 27 it locked up the gun as soon as I chambered a round, I could not get the chamber empty without firing it out after giving the rear of the slide a sharp smack with my palm. they told me to send it in with a couple of the rounds in question (Fiocchi loaded XTP) and had the barrel adjusted and returned to me within six days, I shipped on a friday, I am in Maine, they are out west/midwest.

Great company for customer service.
