A few weeks ago you posted a new Uberti Flattop Target .44-40 with black powder frame you got from Dixie Gunworks. I just ordered one, mine is datecode CS and it has a hammer safety. I think it's called the T-Block safety. I was just wondering if yours had the T-Block safety as well and if they all did?

They should all have the hammer safety due to import requirements. I just wanted to hurry up and get one before they got that goofy retractable firing pin.

Would be absolute heaven if Colt could ever manage to pull off some fun Peacemaker variations.

Not all Uberti Single Action have the hammer block safety. Some later ones have the "Swiss Safe" type safety. Compare:

The gun on the left is a Flat Top Target with the hammer block safety, the gun on the right, a Cimarron .44 Special, has the "Swiss Safe" type safety. Changing out cylinder pins (Base pins) with this one makes it pretty close to the original design of Colt.

I'm not overly disturbed but if there had been a version with the "Swiss Safe" type safety I would have prefered that one, then cut or replace the base pin. Do you know if I can simply replace the hammer and trigger with non-safety versions from VTI? If that's possible I might go that route.

I do have bigger plans for this gun. I'd like to have it refinished in full blue with fire blue screws, synthetic ivory grips and maybe a synthetic ivory dot set in the front sight blade.

I really like the sound of that! Got the makings of one beautiful revolver! Please post photos if your plans ever come to fruition.
