Hey folks, for all the hunters in this group as well as non-hunters, please vote for Amendment 4 which deals with conservation. In a nutshell "this amendment would do two things: It would create a complete property tax exemption for conservation easements — land that a property owner agrees to maintain in its current state and not develop; second, it allows the Legislature to create a new classification of “conservation” land that would qualify for a tax reduction much in the same way the state provides “greenbelt” tax breaks to agricultural landowners." It is supported by the FWC.

You can read up about it as well as the rest of the Amendments here:

This does nothing for hunters. It mostly benefits anti-hunting organizations that buy "conservation" lands (that they always make off-limits to hunters) and there is a very real concern about big developers abusing the exemptions and shoving the costs onto residential homeowners.
The "solutions" to developer abuse claimed by the "environmentalists" are "after-the-fact" and thus not part of the voter choice nor are they guarenteed to even come under discussion let alone put iinto law.

This is a(nother) major boondoggle brought on by the Florida chapters of global environmentalist groups.

That amendment holds NOTHING for the average hunter in Florida. It DOES serve to benefit directly, the large land holder. It allows the continuing (and TAX FREE) use of the property by the owner for silvaculture, cattle farming, even leasing out parcels to private hunting clubs....it DOESN'T mandate nor even mention any public use. All the while we, the general public, get the honor and privilege of picking up the difference in proportional tax bills that result by removing those lands from the rolls.

Sorry, but I'd far and away prefer a more equitable bill, one that'd mandate an entry into the WMA system for a reduction in taxation..............Something our sorry GFC has failed to propose..........guess it'd mean more work for them.....

I intend to vote no and I urge any thinking person to do the same.
