Has anyone used an attorney through Hyatt Legal Plans for a gun registration matter in Chicago? If so, would you mind posting or PM'ing the name.

I missed my renewal date and need some advice on the best way to go from here before the CAGE guys show up at my door. Thanks.

You might move them to Indiana before they do. That way they will not find them in the ashes and possibly give a lawyer some ammo for human rights abuses.

Still you may want to remove them if you have any place to keep them out of state until you get the papers caught up.

Thanks for the reply. That's what I did after my first denial, but I was hoping to save myself the trouble this time. For my initial registration they denied it due to an untimely application, although per their rules I would have had to register them prior to taking them home from the gun shop. The only problem was that I purchased them about ten years prior to moving to Chicago. I was able to convince the adminstrative hearings officer of the absurdity of this, but it meant a day off of work and a lot of hassle.

I would have suggested Maksym, too, although I don't know that he's dealt much with the registration issues.

I do have a friend or two in the suburbs and parents in WI who can hang on to them until I get things sorted out. For the long term I'd like to have something here for defense. My neighborhood isn't terrible, but crime is not an exceedingl y rare occurance.

...and I don't mean to seem like a cheapskate with the Hyatt legal plans, but at a decent lawyer's hourly rate, I'd be better off giving my guns away to a friend and buying new.
